wolfnoir01,
it's not hard to apply, esp since harvard uses the common app, i think. however it's not important to me whether i could have gotten in or not to HYP. even if i did get in (oh so slender chance), i wouldn't go, despite the "HARVARD YAY" prestige. is that strange? haha, well my thinking is sorta weird sometimes. a school's reputation isn't as important to me as it's programs, setting, etc...

" a school's reputation isn't as important to me as it's programs, setting, etc..."

You are the first Asian I know who has cared more for program offerings than for prestige.

livingtea...I think you have a really great chance of getting into most of those schools. Dartmouth and Brown are tough schools to get into, obviously, but you have a very good chance there. Columbia seems to be the hardest to get into on your list, but applying ED will probably help your cause. I'm sure you'll get into almost, if not all, of the colleges. Best of luck!

Livingtea,
Kudos for following what you want, not what is prestigious. HYP is not for everyone, even those with stellar records.

sigh, that's depressing, but i suppose the culture pressures most asian students to go for the prestigious big name schools. ah well. columbia's core and neuroscience seems way better to me than harvard's. and wash u's philosophy neuroscience psychology program sounds phenomenal!

tonyspizza1800 and CountingDown, thanks for your responses!

ah...you seem to have a pretty good shot at all. i'm applying to pretty much the same schools as you...lol columbiaftw

best of luck to you (and me) then!

anyone else have opinions? (shameless bump)

another shameless bump. anyone else, please? i'd love some more input about my chances at columbia and wash u. also, any recommendations about safeties (with a neuroscience program preferably) would be really appreciated!

what do you mean by rolling and priority?

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but... rolling-they'll notify you a few weeks after whenever you send it. so if i send my app now, they'll tell me whether i got in or not a few weeks from now.

priority-application is due by december 1, for UMCP scholarship opportunities.
