chances for admission - (UNUSUAL)

applying early decision to CAS, premed major (biology or neurology)

I'm an American-born East Indian female.

Weighted GPA: 4.017
My school does not rank but i'm in the top 10%
the unusual part lies here. the story is that i took all the honors classes freshman and sophomore years but didn't do that great (A's, A-'s, B+'s, B's.. my grades were all over the place), but i basically put myself in perspective, got my act together, hauled ass, and pulled off a straight-A junior year (with 2 AP's and the rest Honors courses). i plan to pull off a straight-A senior year as well (with 5 AP courses) as well. i heard colleges are impressed to see such academic drive, like an upwards change in grades, such as mine. i wonder what effect that'd have applying to nyu?

EXAMS;

SAT II Physics: 800
I have yet to take the SAT II Math.
AP Chemistry: 5
I'm shooting for a 5 on AP Bio, English Lit, Calc, and Government this spring.

I am also extremely talented in visual arts, specializing in drawing portraits and still life. I've also modeled as a side job, if you will, but i really don't know if that would do anything, or if i should put that on the application at all.

Please let me know what you think my chances are! I'd appreciate it indefinitely.

oh and i'm trilingual: english, gujarati, and hindi
gujarati being my first language

oh wow i'm so forgetful
my teacher reccomendation is amazing because this guy has been teaching me since sophomore year (that's 3 years of experience with me) and he knows me, my work ethics, my capabilities, my personality, etc, very well. my guidance counselor rec is pretty good too because she had and loved my uncle in the past (who also went through my school system, did amazingly, and went on to upenn undergrad & med school) and wrote it with thoughts that i am very similar to him and would be just as successful as him.

yeah, i really think you are going to have no problem getting in. esp. w/the straight A's and that SAT score.

uh...
you think having B's and B+'s will kill you....?

oookay, i'm ressurrecting this thread because i have a new concern
*** is gsp and do you think i would get gsp'd? what exactly qualifies someone to be gsp'd? do ED apps get gsp'd? it sounds ridiculous to me

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=33544

And no, I don't think there is a high likelihood of your getting gsp'd.

Based on what you say about yourself. You do have a decent shot.
You have good SAT and ECs. Yes, You will getting in to CAS, no problem.

Nah, I don't think you are looking to good. Try a community college.

wrong "to". how about YOU try a community college, buddy.

chilllll....

"as well (with 5 AP courses) as well."
"just as successful as him." -- correct structure should read "as HE is".
I am sure I could find mistakes and typos(as it was on my case) like these on many other posts from you, but I certainly won't use them to attack your aptitude. If you couldn't tell, I was trying to include a lighthearted joke as encouragement since your stats are incredible enough to win you admission to princeton or yale. Too bad you decided to take such comments personally and be arrogant. Then again, I am not surprised considering your stress over getting into nyu because of a minor blemish on a brilliant record.

Don't take it personally, qtqt. Basically, mark is saying you kick ass (and that you should stop stressing out).

EDIT: Oh wow, ass isn't censored out. Looks like you guys'll be seeing this word a lot from me on this forum for no particular reason (although it may not be used in the same context as CC thinks it should be).

"reccomendation."
Upon giving the superciliousness of your response a second thought, I realize what a perfect match new york is for you. Now you only have to work on that insecurity and literal thinking--shaky/stern people can go insane here in the big city ; ).
Good luck.

You're an ass, mark, you know that?

i love ass
