???Chances for an ambitious "Ivy Groupie"???

I used to think I was a really strong candidate, so I didn't worry that I was DIE-HARD IN LOVE with Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Wharton, and Georgetown, but now I'm starting to think I'm kind of average!!! Please offer some HONEST insight into my chances at these 5 schools (if you could do the far reach/reach/match thing, that would be great!!!)

Sex: F

School: College Prep (Private), Baltimore MD

Class Rank: top 10% (I think 3 out of 90)

GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.8 weighted

SATs: 780 CR, 780 W, 770 M

AP classes I take/will be taking next year: APSpanish, AP BC Calc, APEnglish Lit, APStat, APPhysics, APEnglish Lang

I skipped a year in math, so I am taking AP Calc as a junior

This year I took the Calc, Lit, and Spanish AP's...thought they went fairly well...4's and 5's let's hope!!!

My school is the most academically rigorous private school in Maryland, and the administration offers VERY few AP's to underclassmen b/c technically (in comparison to other schools), EVERY class at my school is at the honors level....at least that's the explanation they give us....and we're told that our school has a "very distinguished reputation" with admissions officers....who really knows

Awards: Honor Roll every year, Cum Laude Society, Maryland Distinguished Scholar, National Merit Scholar (Semifinalist I think), finished third in Maryland Math League Competition

ECs: Varsity Dance Co. (3 yrs), President and CoFounder of AIDS Awareness (a community service-based student organization), President of Christian Fellowship, Editor in Chief of School newspaper, 1 year of Student Government, President and CoFounder of Nothing But Nets chapter (fundraises for bed nets to stop the spread of malaria in Africa)

Community Service: spent last summer teaching dance to underprivileged girls, this summer will volunteer at the American Red Cross

Also: have been accepted to and will attend Columbia University summer program in Business and Finance this year, will also have an internship in the finance department of Johns Hopkins Hospital, very strong essay writer, have become very close with two teachers whose recs I know will be very good

Sorry this was so long, but ANY insight (good or bad) you have to offer would be AWESOME!!!

good stats, but i can't see real passion/devotion towards a subject on the ECs

bumpity bump bump

better than average but nothing exceptional. maybe around 1/3 chance at the top colleges u listed

Bump again!

nothing stands out... average chance.

Prediction.
You'll end up at Columbia- given your list.

You really think Columbia is an easier shot than Georgetown? Didn't know that

^No, lol, that's not what I meant.
I think you'd get into Columbia and Georgetown.. and I went in with the assumption that you'd pick Columbia over Gtown, lol.
Sorry about the confusion.

The other three aren't as likely.

Ah I see what you mean :)

I actually might have a really hard time picking between those two if that's what it comes down to b/c I'm applying to McDonough at Gtown and it's known as an AMAZING school for business majors. Thanks for the post!

Anyone else???
