Ivy?

<p>Hey guys and girls.</p>

<p>I'm currently a sophomore at a very prestigious school in Washington, DC. I'm a white male. My school sends at least 10-15 people in 60 person classes to Ivy each year. That being said, I think it's estimated here that a B is the equivalent to an A at any other school.</p>

<p>My freshman year was really unsavory in my opinion. I got all B's, decided not to take any honors courses. This year, I'm really stepping it up.</p>

<p>Right now, as I said, I'm a sophomore. My current stats:</p>

<p>6 Classes and what I estimate I'll be getting:
AP Macroeconomics - A-
AP Computer Science - A-
Algebra2 - A
Honors Chemistry - B
English (There isn't an honors class for it) - A-
Spanish 3 - B+</p>

<p>ECs:
Chorus
Cultural Awareness Org.
Astronomy Club
Writer/Aspiring editor of the independent school newspaper
Mathematics Team
Voyageur program (Climbing/outdoorsman afterschool group every day)
Also took an engineering introduction course at a local university this past summer.</p>

<p>My background:
White male
Mother and father are both psychiatrists (Mom went to Syracuse, Dad went to Vanderbilt), my sister goes to MIT, brother goes to F&M.
Very highly ranked private school. I think we might be estimated as one of the best in the country. Past presidents have sent their sons there, tons of senators and well-known politicians went there, etc.</p>

<p>So, if I can maintain these types of grades through junior year, would I have a chance at Ivy despite my lacking freshman year grades? What would you all recommend for me?</p>

<p>its very hard 2 tell without test scores and sophemore and senior grades...its up in the air right now....what school do you go to tho....that could change things.....the name of a highly ranked school in D.C. is St. Alban's</p>

<p>Since your school sends 10-15 each year, as long as you rank in the top 10, you should be good to go....as long as your SATs and ECs match up.</p>

<p>from what you have said, you are definately on the right path. and it may sound cliched, as everyone is telling you and i had been told the same exact thing, but junior year and actual college visits, interviews etc really does come sooner than you think. i mean it. </p>

<p>so, although it is cliched, i really would not worry so much. breathe. but keep up the good work.</p>

<p>St. Alban's? I know some kids there, if you come out an average kid from that school you should get into a T20-30 school no problem with T20 reaches.</p>
