Chances for an ambitious senior at Northwestern, Michigan, NYU, etc!

Hi guys!

Check out my profile and please give me feedback on my current college list. I am thinking of applying ED to Northwestern and also applying to the following: Michigan, NYU Stern, WashU, University of Chicago, UCLA, UIUC Berkley, Columbia, Tufts, Emory.

I am pretty involved in the community and school so that is definitely something I am confident I have been highlighting well in my applications in a unique way. I also just retook the ACT today, and I'm not sure how I did, but I also signed up for October just in case. I hope to improve my score, but do give me thoughts even with my current score as well.

Stats:
GPA: ~3.8 (top 4% ranking at a very large public school, extremely rigorous course load)
ACT: 28 (hope to improve, just retook today and did sign up in October as well)

Goals: I want to get into the business field/finance/entrepreneurship space

Extracurriculars:

Published a children's book available at local bookstores and pretty big online platforms (think Amazon, Barnes/Nobles).

Founded the first ever entrepreneurs organization for students in our community which has been pretty successful. I organized some cool speakers and we have been featured in some pretty big media publications.

Interned for a summer at a congressional office

Interned for a summer in social media at pretty cool start-up (this inspired a lot of my interest in entrepreneurship)

Ranked among the top five young women in the state through a national organization

Represented as a delegate at Girls State

President of the Exec. Board Student Council (this is a huge time commitment as our school, and I have definitely been moving up the ladder quite a bit here. Fortunately, our school principal will be writing one of my recommendations so I am confident she can highlight my contributions pretty well).

Served on council for Principle's advisory committee, launched/led a few unique student committees for our school programs, recreated our student council website.

Graduating from an internationally recognized 7-year dance program

NHS, MHS, DECA.

My major concern really is my ACT score...standardized tests have always been pretty hard for me and I am doing my best to hopefully improve this. Any feedback is really valuable and I appreciate it! Thanks so much guys!

Also, just to clarify, I have taken 9 APs and all honors classes for all four years of high school, and my weighted GPA is around 4.6.

What state are you from. What is your ethnic background? GPA is good, but ACT score is low for U chicago, Columbia, Northwestern and Wash U.

Your ACT is low, too, for Tufts and Emory. Have you worked with your GC to come up with some match schools with respect to your scores? With the right emphasis on your interesting ecs, you might have a shot at some of those schools, but you really should add some matches to your list. How about Villanova, Colgate, U of Richmond, others?

You need to set some match/foundation schools; if you are white or asian all of the schools are reaches, unless you are an urm in which you have a good shot at a good sum.

I am also applying to U of I, UIC, University of Indiana, UCLA.

FYI. The mid 50 ACT for UMich last year was 30-33.

^ I think that’s overstated. I just did a search and it’s 28-32.

@ChaChaanTeng You either look at the wrong stat or out of date numbers. IT IS 30-33 for 2014 for admission. 28-32 is for enrolled freshmen last year. The enrolled freshmen stat for 2014 has not been posted yet. It may go up slightly as the admission mid 50 went up from 29-33 to 30-33. Only admission stat matters to applicant.

Thanks for feedback.
