I want to know how I match with these schools so I'll have a better idea on where to apply.

Living in Illinois and probably will need financial aid as well, if this affects anything.

ED: Northwestern
EA: Michigan and wherever else I can

Getting your ACT up would definitely be a huge plus for your application. I’d also consider taking the SAT if you haven’t – maybe you’d do better on that one? If you already have and your ACT is better, then I’d just work on getting that up, especially because your GPA can be considered “low.” You have solid ECs, and it sounds like your recs will be good.

If this helps lately, I had similar-ish stats to yours and applied to most of the schools you’ve listed here (Northwestern, UChicago, Michigan, Vanderbilt, and Georgetown). I got into Northwestern, Michigan, and Vanderbilt and was rejected from UChicago. Georgetown waitlisted (and then eventually rejected me). I had slightly higher test scores than yours, but a lower GPA.

I don’t actually know anything about NYU, but I’d say it can’t hurt to apply to the other schools you’ve listed here. These schools are competitive but not Ivy-competitive, which means they’re a crapshoot. I’d say Michigan is the one here that you have the best shot at, and Georgetown would be the biggest reach.

Thank you for your response! I definitely feel my GPA is on the low end which has worried me.

I will be retaking the ACT in Sept, but I haven’t taken the SAT before and really don’t plan on taking it. I’m surprised that Georgetown is my biggest reach. I thought it would be U of C or NU.

i agree that UChicago would probably be the biggest reach, especially if they have a similar increase in applications again. I suggest taking SAT as well. Some people just do better with SAT. I also suggest start working on your essays. If you are applying to Wash U, I suggest you visit given that you are probably close. As of now, my guess is that Michicagn and Vandy are closest to match.
