Chances for an arab girl at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign?

<p>The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign is my dream school and I reeaaallllyyy want to get in! My weighted GPA is 3.4, my SAT score is 1870, I'm applying to the college of Applied Health Sciences with a Speech and Hearing Science major. I'm Arab and speak English and Arabic fluently, have been studying Spanish since the 6th grade and have been self teaching myself Korean and am proficient at it. Also, I live in Saudi Arabia (but I'm an American citizen), I don't know if thats relevant but I'm hoping that UIUC likes diversity :P</p>

<p>I've taken 4 honors classes and only one AP, which isn't a lot, I know, but my school is a college-prep school, so do you think that helps?</p>

<p>I received a full-paid merit scholarship from the US Department of State called NSLI-Y to study in Korea for 6 weeks (only 50 applicants were accepted), I traveled to Cambodia with Habitat for Humanity to build houses for those in need, I've participated in multiple community and school plays with lead roles, I've gotten first place in local singing competitions and I've participated in local and international honor band and choir festivals. I've also been in MUN. </p>

<p>On my first essay I talked about how my cultural diversity has changed my perspective on the world, and on my second essay I talked about my scholarship to Korea (from what I know, those two things are the strongest things on my application).</p>

I know my score is low and my gpa is too but im just really hoping that my diversity will give me an edge over the other applicants :stuck_out_tongue: you guys’s comments are making me feel a lot better!</p>

<p>My safety school is the University of Houston :stuck_out_tongue: i wanted a school I knew Id get in to haha. I also applied to Syracuse University, could that be a safety school?</p>

<p>I was just looking at another thread where a person had a gpa of
3.75 or something and a 1750 sat score and they were told that uiuc is a reach school for them. Could it be because theyre applying to engineering? My gpa is lower but apparently uiuc is a match for me :confused: im so confused!</p>
