hi I was wondering if anyone can give me a guess as to what my chances are applying for a MS program for Electrical Engineering at UCLA / UCSD ... basically 1 tier down from Berkeley, MIT and such... thanks.

GPA: 3.53 overall, major: 3.6 last 2 yrs: 3.67
GRE: estimate 790~800 math, 500ish verbal
letters: 2 slightly better than "he got an A" type from profs, 1 from internship supervisor
experience: intern + work

I think you should get in easily. Why don't you try some higher ranked program as well?

what is it about his application that tells u he should get in "easily"?

i'm not saying he won't, but as presented, his profile doesn't seem particularly distinguished unless i'm missing something. are those considered really good grades?

What's your undergrad inst.?

If it's a top 20 eng school, those scores should get you into UCLA/UCSD pretty easily.

because engineering grad programs are easier to get in than grad program in physics or mathematics...many engineering students nowadays get masters..

sigil, I think you have a strong chance for the schools you listed.
