Bump!

90 views and one response?! Come on... say something!

you have no chance at all
stick to canadian schools

Nothing other than cynicism huh

You have a near-perfect SAT score, 4.0 uw, and solid ECs.

There's really nothing to say besides the fact that there's always some luck involved when it comes to applying for HYPSM.

Ditto. The GPA, test scores, and ECs are all there. You should get in as long as your essays aren't boring or poor. Pick up and read one or all of the following books for writing essays (presuming you haven't already sent the applications)

Strunk and White: The Elements of Style, 4th edition
Writing a Successful College Application Essay (from Barrons--written by George Ehrenhaft)
On Writing Well, by William Zinsser

The first two are short, easy reads (can do in a day or two). The last one is a little longer.

Best of success to you.

P.S. Based upon the way these Ivies score, you'll get a "1" for GPA, a "1" for test scores, and a "2" or "3" for ECs. (probably a "2"). Based upon this, you'll only need a "2" on your essay to get into the schools. This means your essay has to be better than the average one received, but doesn't have to "wow" them.

For your info, for ECs, a "1" is given for someone who has won or placed in a national competition, a "2" is given for winning or placing in a regional competition(s). Since you were fourth, I'll presume they will give you a "2".

And if you go "1-1-1" on the first three categories, generally they don't even bother to read the essays. They just let you in.

Hmm interesting...I've never heard of that point system.
