Chances for an International Student to get into Medical courses in the US.HELP!

hello
i am an indian student aspiring to get into a medical course in the US. but i hv heard a lot about universities not accepting international students...could u please tell me more about this?

What you’ve heard is true.

Here’s a somewhat dated (2009) list of US medical schools and their policies towards internationals.

[NAAHP: Medical School Admission Policies Towards Non-U.S. Citizens](<a href=“Home - NAAHP”>Home - NAAHP)

In general, international students must complete their undergrad education (or at least all of their pre-requisites for med school) at a US college. And in general, international students are not eligible for financial aid when attending US medical schools.

~~~~~
One thing to remember is that in the US, medicine is post-graduate program and not a bachelor’s level degree as it is in India. It’s 4 years of undergraduate studies in an academic area followed by 4 years of medical school.
WayOutWestMom,
my undergrade is in India, but masters is in USA. I am US citizen. Do I have any chance of getting into US schools? Am I eligible for financial aid? Do I need to redo undergrade here again or just prereqs is enough?
Waiting for your response…
Thanks
If you are a current US citizen, then you are eligible for US government loans–which is how most med students finance their education.
As for whether you’ll need to re-take your pre-reqs–you’ll need to contact each medical school you’re thinking of applying to and ask. I really don’t know.
