Chances for an international Student

<p>Hi, I am from Germany. I'd like to know what you think about my chances of being admitted to Harvard! </p>

<p>Stats:</p>

<p>Academics:
SATI: 780M, 620CR, 700W
SATIIs: 800 French, 770 Spanish, 700 Italian, 730 BiologyM, 730 Chemistry
GPA: 3.5 (unweighted, very demanding school system!)
Rank: 2/80</p>

<p>EC:
-Dance (Hiphop, Breakdance, Jazz...): won the Austrian championship in Breakdance as well as many regional championships, member of several dance crews
-founder of the high school dance class
-Taekwondo: black belt since the age of 14, won Bavarian, German, Belgian and Austrian championship, etc
-Violin/Orchestra: member of 4 different orchestras
-Skiing/Snowboarding: no awards
-learning foreign languages: english, spanish, french, portuguese, russian, turkish and vietnamese</p>

<p>awards:
-scholarship "e-fellows" for Germany's best high school graduates
-prize by the "Deutsche Telekom AG"</p>

<p>Work experience:
-Dance Instructor
-Math/Chemistry Tutor
-worked in Chemical Industry
-internship at Biochemistry Laboratory
-internship at Genetics Laboratory
-civil service (helping people with special needs 40 hours per week for nine months)</p>

<p>I would be glad to get your advices!</p>

<p>Hmm I can't tell you anything about chances- I'm an international student as well.. how come you're learning so many foreign languages? actually the fact that you're from Germany got me interested in the thread- I'm half- German...</p>

<p>I don't know much about the German school system, so your GPA appears low, but obviously the rank proves otherwise. </p>

<p>Assuming your not applying SCEA: If you can, retake the SAT Reasoning- your CR score should be a bit higher. SAT IIs look good, maybe take the Math SAT II since you scored so high on the SAT I Math. Write good essays; ask the teachers who love you/think your great for recommendations. </p>

<p>After that, Harvard admissions is a (seemingly) random process. You may get in, you may not. Apply to backup schools. Good luck!</p>

<p>your chances really depend on the actual, real prestige of the "championships" you listed</p>

<p>a lot of such "championships" are really exaggerated. if yours aren't, then you could have a chance. if they are, then you will be rejected</p>

<p>Thank you for your advices and views. All of the "championships" were officially acknowledged championships with many hundreds of participants. By the way, I'm from Bavaria.
All right, I'm not applying SCEA, so I have a chance of retaking the SATI in order to improve my CR score. I think that even the SATs are somehow randomly in their degree of difficulty. Some questions are, at least for me, ambiguous!</p>
