Chances For An Int'l Financial Aid Seeker

Well your stats are similar to mine, actually; I'm also an ISC student taking Math & Bio and a Debater and a Quizzer; were you at Doon or Frank Anthony this year?

I'd say your chances at these colleges are quite goodish, the only true test is in applying of course. I'd disagree with isaac, and merely advise that your essays and the rest of your application be in your voice; speak to the admissions committee of who you are.

Best of luck! (The cartoons are a nice touch; they'll make the adcoms remember you.)

I don't know any by heart, but the first ones that caught my eye at a quick collegeboard college search were

Bowling Green State University
East Central University (not 100% sure)
Emporia State University
Lousiana Tech University
University of New Orleans

isaacnewton: I am a HE. Taemi is a random word that gmail threw up one day tro verify that i was real when i entered the wrong password. i liked the name so i used it here.

k_twin: i last went to doon in class X...only to quiz. But I've been to Bishop Cotton Shimla as well as Shri Ram School in Delhi in 2005. In 2006 i only debated in my city, kolkata.

OH YES CHANCE ME

We don't have enough Indian females around here. I thought you were female, as well, sorry :<. It's still me and Noldo. As an almost radical feminist, I don't like this :<.

I'm not qualified enough to chance you, but you should have a good chance.

Cornell likes NTSE? Really? Brilliant, I have a chance now. :D

To taemi -- you have decent chances, but admissions for any top college are a bit of a crapshoot. Still, you will probably be looking at a few acceptance letters in March (don't count on anything, though).

All hail the NTSE Scholars!!!! :)
When do the acceptance/ rejection letters or emails turn up. march or april?

PS: CHANCE ME!
PPS: SOrry curlyfry for the misleading name. come to think of it , it does sound feminine! Whoops!!
PPPS: dda, i havent applied to state schools since they dont give enough fin. aid. and i cant study in ANY college in the US without fin. aid.

SNAP POLL: EVERYBODY, WHAT'S YOUR HOOK??

Depends, most in late March / early April.

I don't have a hook, I dunno. I don't have a safety either, and I NEED ONE. And I'm turning 17 tomorrow. I wrote poems about four of the colleges, though. And I'm random. And I still need to do my Colgate essay.

Yeah, I don't really have much of a hook -- the closest I'll get to anything approaching 'interesting' are a) age, b) NTSE, and c) my ridiculously nerdy supplementary essays (and the giant plot-for-an-urban-fantasy-novel that I wrote as MIT's supplement).

What is your age?

Not insanely young, but it is a noticeable factor (and might help in the sense that I'm doing well in a group of older kids, and therefore may be smart enough for college, etc.).

Well, all NTSEers might be happy to apply to Caltech,Cornell,Purdue,CMU....and might be Stanford..
All the colleges(except for Stanford) look for academic achivers!!..

Noldo: 15!!!!! Have you checked whether you're too young or not??

Oh yes! Everybody: What's your hook?

Also...chance me!!!

There doesn't seem to be an age limit for the US as long as you prove that you can handle college coursework (which I think I can!), unlike in India -- I can't write AIEEE, for example.

Yep. No age restrictions in US. Generally the kids who go to college young are the ones who skip their senior year. But you would've completed 12th(in CBSE!!), so you should be fine.

15!!!!!!! Still cant get over that!!!
