Intro to Psychology and its applications: A-

NYS Summer Young Writers institute in 11th grade. REALLY COMPETITIVE. had to write a 10-page piece of literature, which i did a short story.

Upward trend. Outstanding SAT’s. Good EC’s. A catholic school Fordham knows. You are in like Flynn, pal.

No financial aid but need student loans? I am confused. You need federal student loans or private bank loans? Parents want you to have skin in the game, is that it?

I presume you will apply to Rose Hill.

English and Comparative Literature are Fordham strengths. So is psychology.

Good luck.

I had similar stats when I applied back in 2005. I had a 1350 on the SAT’s and 89 avg UW, with an upward trend in grades and almost all AP’s junior/senior years. I got about $4,200 in merit scholarship, but Fordham has gotten a lot more competitive since then. I think you have a relatively good chance, but then again nothing is guaranteed when it comes to college admissions. I wish you the best of luck!!

thank you both for the Chances!

it sucks though. These days, you can’t even get into a college with a name without a freakin’ 4.0 gpa.

Getting into college has become highly competitive because of demographics and an explosion of applications. And the more competitive it becomes the more kids apply to more colleges which only pushes the envelope even more. Fordham’s applications have exploded from under 18,000 a year to now well over 24,000.

Getting into a “name” college is always a difficult process, but you should be most concerned with getting into the best college for you, because its the best fit for you, your interests, personality and academic acumen.

The process is quirky on the best of days. Its that way for everyone. Just do your best and hope for the best and know that you will get into a good college and this coming September you will be on your way. Keep the faith and accept whatever happens with maturity and dignity.

I think you will be fine…your gpa is not the best but with an upward trend and otherwise strong credentials from a local school they know, you should be fine.
