chances for Annenberg at Penn?

so I'm interested in applying to Annenberg's Communications Ph.D. program, but I didn't do too hot on my GREs. On my verbal section, I scored 530; on quantitative, I scored 690. I think this is below my capabilities, particularly in comparison to my SATs where i scored 1510/1600. However, I received a good writing score (5.5), and the admissions says you merely need to score over 500 on the sections to be considered. Should I try retaking them? I have a 3.5 GPA from a top school and a 3.7 major GPA, additionally. I did not major in communications.

Annenberg at Penn, that is.

do you have research or strong LORs?

schools don’t care about the writing score. as long as it’s over 4.5, it doesn’t matter. if it’s under 4.5, then it might raise red flags.

your verbal score is quite low for a PhD program and while your undergrad grades are good, they’re nothing unusual. penn’s program is pretty competitive, especially for the PhD degree, so to make sure you’re competitive too, i’d recommend retaking the GRE and scoring around or above 650 on the verbal, if possible.
