chances for arts and sciences college - settle a dispute =)

<p>(not me - my brother actually - to settle a small argument with my dad)
(in state)
3.5 ish UW gpa
SAT: cr 660 math sub 600ish
(the sat scores are from practice SAT's, he'll be a junior this year)</p>

<p>swim team 4 years (probably will make state this year, but nothing extraordinary)
academic summer camp at northwestern for the past 2-3 years
plays an instrument (nothing extraordinary)</p>

<p>average/decent recs
good/strong essay</p>

<p>what do you think his chances are?
(I got into the business school but transferred to a diff business school after a year, not sure if that works to his advantage if anything)</p>

<p>I can't quite figure out if he has a good chance or not, as champaign was more of a backup school for me than anything</p>

<p>people who got in to uiuc (not business/engineering) what are your stats/EC's/scores?</p>

<p>if he's trying to get into LAS, some departments vary...</p>

<p>but generally, he's got a solid chance, I think. LAS isn't really difficult to get into...</p>

<p>Too early to know because he has no real test scores. Also, the 3.5 GPA tells little since UIUC relies heavily on class rank not GPA. Recommendations are not used for admission.</p>
