I've talked to the track coach and he's interested enough to bring me down to visit the school. NYU is D3 so they can't give athletic scholarships, but if the coach shows enough interest after we meet to help me out in the admissions office am I in or not???

I was recruited by NYU with almost the exact same stats. I did not get in. Athletics does not have much pull in NYU admissions.

Yes, NYU is not big at all on sports... but it has exactly what I'm looking for in a school and track team, so I'm hoping I can find a way in.

Am I going to have to write the greatest essay of all time, or am I pretty much rejected??

You never know

write the greatest essay of all time, and see where it gets you.

you're Hispanic aka diverse. my logic would me that NYU would embrace an athlete since theres so little of them, but i dunno if its what its looking for

applying won't hurt. you won't ask "what if?" i almost didn't apply cause i thought i didn't have a shot in hell for acceptance. i'm currently a freshman.
