I'm thinking about applying to NYU. I'd love to run track for NYU as i'm sure it would help me in the admission office. Has anyone been recruited by NYU or played a varsity sport there? How much would it help me to get in?

I was recruited for swimming, and I may have been recruited for track. I talked to the coach and told him my times sent in my app. and stuff, but I was really hard core recruited for swimming.

I think it helps a lot, as a team mate od mine said last year, " I got into every school I could run at."

and my stats where really really low but got in, soooo...

I'm a NYU alum, and I used to play varsity soccer. Being recruited for a sport helps A LOT in admissions. I know many who would not have gotten into NYU if it wasn't for the fact that they were recruited onto a team.

Athletic talent is a big hook in college admissions, if you have it, use it.

Dylan: It helps a lot if you can get recruited onto a sports team.

A friend of mine is a diver on the NYU swim team. He's a econ major in CAS, his SAT scores were pretty low (around 1250), and he openly admits he wouldn't have gotten into NYU if it wasn't for his diving skills.

Thanks for all the input. Not sure if I would need the sport to get into CAS, but I'd love to go to Stern, so this may help.
