Chances for average kid?

Leaving safety schools out of list since...they're safeties.
Schools: UVA (top choice. please have chances for IS and OOS), Pomona, Union, Grinnell, Tufts, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Kenyon.
Also, live in MA (the IS for UVA is because my dad lives there and I am probably eligible since he is in charge of my taxes and HOPEFULLY will contribute) so is it worth traveling to Kenyon/Grinnell prior to applying or should I wait and see if I'm accepted and considering?

Stats:
Small public school of 800 in a VERY white town (it's like 96%...). Good school and getting better although, imho, it sucks :) .

SATs: Reasoning: 700-M 690-V 670-CR Not happy with the scores and will retest. Subject: 660-US Hist (P.O.'d would describe me when I saw that #) 800-M2.

Rank: 15/195 and rising now that I am actually putting in a little effort.
AVG: W-96.1880% UW-around a 93%

Freshman Year (love how in history and int. sci. I had hardest teachers possible and all my friends had the no work A+ teachers. I got highest grade in both classes and one of them had the current valedictorian in it)-
Pub. Speaking/Debate: A- (wish we had a team)
World Hist: A-
English: A
Spanish II: A
Geometry: B+
Biology: A
Int. Sci.: A-
Other classes not honors because not available at that level but were required courses (gym, comp. app., career center...)

Sopho Year (still no effort)
English: A+
World Hist II: A
Spanish III: A
Algebra II: B+
Algebra III: B
Chemistry: B+
(also the gym, health, chorus deal)

Junior Year (a bit of effort)
US Lit: A
Pre-AP US History: A
AP US History: A (5 while taking test with poison ivy. Was on steroids and could hardly hold a pencil)
Ind. Study-Ancient Greek Philosophy: A
Spanish IV: A
Pre-Calc: B
Programming: A
Physics: A-
Anatomy & Phys.: A+

I think that having the same grade in 8th grade math and pre-calculus (teacher basically insures a 5 on the calc ab test. my sister had a c in her class and still got a high 5) shows the rise in effort.

Courses for SR. year:
Calc, Pre-AP English lit, transitions/sr proj (give me a break here...sr project is required and I'm only doing half the requirements because I'm cool like that), Modern Euro History, Spanish V, AP Calc AB, AP English lit, AP Physics (non-calc), and I'm debating an Ind. Study of macro-economics. If I do, I'll probably be coming here for some help =D

Sorry if it's not exactly the neatest post. Organization is not my forte...
Thanks in advance!

OOS - Match
IS - Safe Match

Another confused kid who thinks he is average. how lame.

compared to the rest of cc? yea.
i know not compared to the rest of my student body but they arent the people i am addressing.
ok so, ty haz, and if i could get responses to the rest on the list id appreciate it.

did you know the average SAT score in america is around a 1500?

did you know the average grade in america is a C, not a B?

do your research please

Research your local community college.

Ok, so i apologize for a misrepresentative post? as i said it was more focused toward the pool i am in. but seriously, if it bothers you why post? the post is empty and worthless and noone gains from it.

In hindsight, I agree that the title is inaccurate and probably a little rude but I can't find a tool to fix it (don't see edit post button or anything). Should i repost with a more accurate title and let this one go by the wayside/be deleted upon request?

GIMEurSTRESballz:

Nonsense, don't bother deleting the post. People can deal with it in a civilized manner, I should think.

Addressing your question, I'd estimate the following for you:

Reach (~25% chance you'll get in): Pomona
Slight reach (~35-40% chance you'll get in): Bowdoin, Grinnell, Middlebury
Match (~45-55% chance you'll get in): OOS, Tufts
Almost a safety (~75% chance you'll get in): IS, Kenyon, Union

Definitely visit all schools that you are strongly considering. You may be surprised that you like another school over UVa, or that the other schools are not a good fit for you.

Good luck!

Thanks Tom!

dude, found a school debate team. i founded one. it's not impossible, and it shows initiative.

I would say that Bowdoin, Tufts, Pomona are reaches, Grinnell's a match (as is OOS), and IS, Kenyon are safeties.
