Will applying EarlyAction/Decision help improve my chances? My favorite is Tufts, because it is close to my house, and my childhood goal was to go there.
Need A lot of FA, so will my chances go down drastically?
I am Asian Chinese, US born Citizen.

I heard Tufts has ED/ or EA where if you are accepted in dec. and receieved aid, YOU HAVE TO GO. will that improve my chances.. also i want to major in pre med, (pre dental) , would that be more comptetive too?

Thanks!
Will chance back!

Well, I’m sorry that I can’t chance you as well as I would’ve liked because I live in CA and I honestly haven’t heard of half the schools you wanna go to Haha.

But I can say that you would have a nice chance at UCLA. Granted, it may be slightly tougher on you since you’re an out-of-state resident, but since UCs don’t see your freshman grades, you won’t have much of a “problem” to begin with.

Do you know what major you’re applying to for UCLA? From what I’ve seen with my current senior friends that got in/got rejected, that made a difference. Their science majors from what I’ve heard are supercompetitive, and I’ve seen a lot of my smartest, top 20% of the class friends get rejected.

Your ECs are supernice though. Very well-rounded student you are (whoops, Yoda moment)

If you have the time, I’d appreciate it if you chanced me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/890130-chance-me-please.html</a></p>

Thanks and good luck!

Thanks for your opinon.

I would like to major in Biology or Chemistry (to apply to dental school) but i thought that you select your major AFTER you are accepted, usually during beginning of the school year.

I heard that freshman grades dont count for UC’s schools, but i think UCLA is not…?

Will a heavy FA assistanace, low my chances significantly.?

FA means financial aid right? Well, if your family pulls in less than $80,000 a year, I think they give you scholarships to help pay your college tuition, but that’s FAFSA business and I’m not too knowledgeable on that…I don’t think it lowers or raises your chances.

Well, you can go in as undecided (that would be like choosing your major later) or you can go straight into the university with a specific major in mind (business, pre-med, etc.). Freshman grades don’t count for any UC.

Ok Thank you for answering my questions…

Do you know how hard it is to get into McGill?
I dont know if you know this, but
Will a Bachelors at Canada, make me an international student when applying to graduate/dental school?

any comments would be wonderful… will chance back asap.

Admission to McGill is highly competitive, though not as competitive as the Ivy League.

If you are a US citizen, a McGill or any Canadian degree will not make you an international applicant to US graduate/professional schools. A McGill degree will be fully recognized by all US schools. By the way, All Canadian medical, dental and veterinary schools are fully accredited by the AMA, ADA and AVMA and are not considered as foreign schools so even if you got medical training in Canada you would not be a foreign graduate. Take a look at the McGill thread on CC, it is very extensive.

thanks tomofboston.
are you also from eastern mass?
do you think i have a chance at mcgill and the colleges i stated?

will chance back…

i think you have a great chance all these colleges
your grades and test scores need a little work but your ecs should make up for them
work on those and you should be fine

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/879868-chance-me-get-chance-back-asap-2.html#post1064434717</a></p>

thanks for your chances…
will chance back for smiley612.

what is a better SAT score that i try to bring to?

Your test scores seem very good for most of these schools. As I always suggest to people, I think you should give the ACT a try because you never know you could be way better at it than the SAT! you do have very good ECs! I would make sure you talk to your councilor about your grades/family issues so they let the colleges know. Overall you will be a very competitive applicant.

Please chance back!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/891665-chance-me-my-dream-school-notre-dame.html</a></p>
