bc.. doubtful
your gpa is ridiculously slow. and how in the world did you get a 1510 on ur sat's...

what do you mean...you will get into BU, brother had same stats hes a frosh there now congrats!

thats what i thought, but other people are saying i have a good shot with strong essays. anyone else got an opinion???

You have to bring that GPA closer to 3.3+. Without it I think your chances are very slim, unfortunetly.

Your SAT is fantastic, but it is negated by the GPA, both in HS and now in college.

even for BU you think?

yes a 2.97 gpa is quite low. Your 1510 is great but it will not be enough to out shine your poor performance in actual classes BOTH in high school and college.

Try some less selective universities and you should have no problem.

"wow. your gpa is awful. but your sat is good. toss up i think. if yoiu show a lot of interest in one of the schools, youll have a good chance" -thats what someone just said on another board, and others have said similar things.......who to believe??? anyone else got ideas?

I don't think anyone here wants to discourage you from applying. In fact, if you really want to go to these schools, you should apply regardless of what anyone is telling you, perhaps aside from the financers lol.

However, it is important to note that both your SAT and GPA will stick out on paper, one in a great way and the other not so much. Thus, you're probably going to have to account for the latter part in your essay. It's just a question of whether or not the supplementary pieces of the application can outweigh your GPA.

In any event, best of luck. Hope everything works out. :)

Wow... Nice SAT scores... but why do you have such GPA with this high SAT scores? There seems to be a gap there or may be you are super good test taker or your high school and college are very competitive?

no im just weird.....
also though, last year i applied to Reed and got wait-listed (and its not like regular freshman admissions; only a few kids get wait-listed for transfers) and that was with a 2.7 GPA, a 29 ACT and no SAT at all. so basically my recs and essays were pretty superlative. but im hoping this year with my higher GPA and good SAT scores will help me up and ill get in. do you think that can be counted on? and do you think BU or BC would react similarly to really good recs/essays. (i mean, my recs are really outstanding)

i dont want to sound mean but how are your recs so outstanding if you suck at all your classes? a 2.97 is a high c average. your sat scores are amazing but i do not think those mean AS much in the transfer process. below is part of an email i received from transfer admissions at BU because i am applying as well:

"The 'average' GPA for our transfer students that started fall 2005 was 3.5 'average' SAT was 1250. Please keep in mind that this was an average."
