anyone?? help?

i also have 4 family members who were alumns (not immediate family; grandparents, uncles, etc)....is that a boost?? anybody out there????

How can you have an amazing SAT score if you have a low GPA?

idk. i hated high school. and went to college a year early (to st johns college), but st johns is weird about grades. no tests, quizzes, or papers, so its pretty whack what you end up being evaluated on. ......but do you think i have a shot at BU??

Longshot with your GPA. Better to go to a community college for a year. Get a GPA over 3.5 and transfer next year. Poor GPA with high SAT tells the adcoms that you are a very bright slacker. Prove them wrong. I don't think uncles and grandparents as alumni would be a hook unless they have a wing or a building in their name on campus.

well, I am applying to BU as a first year student. so transferring might be even more competitive. But your SATs are very strong - in fact some of them are out of "average" ranges for BU. Compared to your SAT scores, mine is pretty bad - (1760 new SAT). But my GPA is 96 (numerical value) and my rank is 10 out of 400. (i took 6 APs). So my case is pretty much opposite case of yours. But I got into Syracuse and Penn State.. (just got accepted :) To be honest, I thought I would be rejected to these colleges b/c of my poor SAT scores. So no one knows what will happen... Good Luck!

this is crazy njulielee i have basically the same stats as u, high GPA low sat and it makes me feel better to see that u got into BU cuz then maybe i have a shot...

correction: i did not get into BU (i applied but I am still waiting for an answer). I got into Penn State Univ Park and Syracuse which are higher in rank than BU. Also, in my case, "high GPA" was a factor but it was not the most important one - at least i do not think. My most important factor was the rigorous classes I've taken (6 APs + 4 HNs) and getting them all As or A+s. Also I had a great art portfolios which got great recognizations...
