<p>Hey, could some people chance me for the MCS in CMU please?</p>

AP's Currently taking: APUSH, Env, Psych, Physics, English Lang
Rank: Top 15%
Age: 16</p>

<p>MANY MANY EC's: Creative writing club, NHS, Math team, Science team, school a capella group, school newspaper, recycling club, art club, track and field, piano (12 years)
Leadership: officer in math team, officer in science team, leader in a capella group, editor for newspaper
Awards: principal's award, president's volunteer award, national merit commended, etc...
500+ Volunteer Hours
Recs: 1 great, 1 okay
Essays: 1 great, supplemental was eh</p>

<p>Also, i have a general question for all. Since the class of 2009 is SO large, will it be harder for people to get into colleges this year? Will colleges put a quota on the number of prospective students?</p>

<p>Your scores are good enough for cmu, unfortunatly I don't know much about cmu's mcs department other than it is really good...Your class rank might be a problem, (I am in the same situation), but everything else looks good, I say its a low reach...good luck...</p>

<p>Thanks! I go to a school in NY with 20% asians, so it's really competitive.
By the way, I'm not applying to CMU's computer science. I'm doing Mellon College of Science.</p>

<p>Hmmm...I don't know what you want me to chance. You know that Mellon is a top school and it is mainly a tossup. I'd say with your math scores, you've got a very good chance. Good luck</p>

<p>Your volunteer hours blew me away. I think MCS in CMU is a match, but not guaranteed.</p>

<p>It's hard to rank without knowing weighted and unweighted GPA. Your class rank hurts, but your standardized tests help.</p>

<p>Since your going for MCS and not computer science, I would say match, your about where MCS should be, it is even bordering on low match.</p>

<p>My Weighted GPA is a 4.20, Unweighted GPA is a 3.85. Again I go to a really competitive school in NY, 20% Asians.</p>

<p>The class rank might hurt a bit, but it is a competitive school, so I guess that's a tossup.</p>

<p>Age 16......wow. impressive. Class rank is absolutely not an issue....there are so many different types of high schools now so class rank is a huge range for the applicant pool.</p>
