Chances for CoE

Hey guys, I was hoping you could give me a rough idea of where I sit.

GPA: 3.68
SATs: 710 M 730 R 680 W
I've taken one normal class, Spanish IV, other than that it's been all honors or AP.

AP Classes
AP CompSci A
AP Physics Mechanics C
AP Physics Electricity and Magnetism C
AP Calculus AB

I'm set on being an electrical engineer, theres nothing else in the world I would like to do. My information may seem specific to that because of my interest in the subject.

Extra Curriculars

Varsity Swimming Freshman Year
Varsity Tennis Sophomore and Junior Year - quit this year, didn't like it
Robotics Club Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Year
Theatre Lighting and Sound and Set Construction Junior and Senior year
Over 100 hours community service, in many different forms
National Honors Society
I won the award for Best in Computer Science in the grade sophomore year

I've been racing and working on cars since I was thirteen and have won several different large races. I'm moving to TaG karts next year.

I started a business, legally founded as an LLC building computers. I started that in Sophomore year, just got it legal this year. It began over ebay repairing Xboxes and developed into building computers. I own a website for it and will begin advertising soon with Project Wonderful.

I'm a moderator on five separate forums directly related to Xbox 360 repair and development and computers, both very large and very small. I put time into that every day, and a lot of people look up to me.

I detailed almost everything here in my essay or on my app, I just tried to get it in somewhere. I was called to do an interview this upcoming Monday.

Don't tell me about my GPA, I know it isn't as solid as it could be, but I'm hoping a combination of SAT scores and ECs will help me out there. I just want a general opinion of yes or no.

Let me know!
Thanks!

I also already applied ED, that should affect it too.

Thanks!

wat about SAT II?

Just a 690 on Physics and a 720 on Math I. I’m hoping that won’t matter as much, I only took them once and it was last minute.

actually your Math + Phy score are low for Engineering, I believe. But who knows? Yo still have a chance

I feel like your GPA, SAT I, and SAT II scores are kind of low. You’ve also only taken 4 AP classes but your extracurriculars seem solid with your computer and Xbox things. However, it isn’t all about scores, your essays and recommendation letters also weigh in heavily on the decision. If you’re passionate about it, just keep hoping for the best. Nobody here will tell you yes/no you will/won’t get in because we honestly don’t know. I’m also applying to CoE and have a thread a few below yours titled “Chance Me :)” in case you want to compare.

Well my GPA is solid for my school, kids who got accepted to Cornell had an average of 3.8 when it came to that. I am a bit lower, but I have some strong extracurriculars. I believe Cornell looks at composite scores as well, and considering that, I’ve got a solid 1440 SAT I. I know the SAT IIs weren’t good, I took them once and hadn’t prepared much, I would have taken them earlier this year but I missed that.

Thanks for the feedback!

You’re welcome

Hopefully we both get in :)
