Very solid, you have an amazing shot. BTW, as a CS major starting cornell next year, what did u do for the 1st in state for java (or C++)? I never heard of these competitions xD

Chances are more than excellent. You may even qualify for [Hunter Rawlings III Presidential Research Scholars](<a href=“Cornell Commitment | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Cornell Commitment | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University) . As an incoming freshman you don’t apply for it. If you are selected, they will let you know mid-March of the year you are applying for.

@slurmz: The competition was basically a coding contest where you were given a business-related problem to create a program for, and you were judged on the effectiveness of it and your speed. The problems aren’t incredibly challenging or anything, but I did have to learn a bit of coding on my own.

@2coll: Thanks for the input. Does Cornell offer any merit based scholarships?

No there are no merit based scholarships at Cornell only need based. However, if you quality you have Presidential Research Scholarship, Meining Scholarship, (google Cornell Commitment). You also have BioRes Fellowship if your research is related to the biological field, then there is NASA grant, and other external corporate awards. All these are highly competitive.

bump… does anyone else have any input?

Excellent chance!
