I know I really messed up sophomore year but if my grades look good junior year and senior year, will colleges still look down upon my sophomore year grades?

My SAT I score is 2080
My ACT score is 30
I haven't taken any SAT II tests yet.

I play soccer and basketball on occasion.
I play the clarinet for the band
I am involved in the debate team.
I am an officer for the Asian american club at our school
I am a member of the National Honor Society

AP European History: 4

I am really very concerned about college now because of my sophomore year grades and now I'm trying as hard as I can to get my GPA and class rank up, but I still feel like the grades from 10th grade are going to drag me down. My dream schools are Brown and Tufts. In reality though, my top three schools are BU, NYU, and GWU. Can anybody chance me?

Brown: Reach
Tufts: reach
NYU: High match
GWU: Match/High match
BU: Match
UCLA: Match/High match
UT-Austin: Match/High match
KU: Safety
UMKC: Safety

I’m sorry I’m kind of new to this whole thing. What does high match mean and how does it compare to match?

Match means you’re more likely to get in when compared to High Match. High Match is closer to a Reach. Low Match is closer to a Safety.

Boston University: 50%
Brown University: 15%
New York University: 25%
Tufts University: 20%
UCLA: 30%
University of Kansas: 55%
UT Austin: 60%

Your GPA is your only red flag…if you still can, I’d retake ACT/SAT to show that you are academically capable…good luck!

So if I got my SAT I score up to 2150 and my ACT to 31, and also got straight A’s second semester of junior year what would my chances be?

^Then I’d probably increase the percentage for each school anywhere from 5 to 10%. Good luck!

What’s in-state for you? How much can your parents pay? Will you need financial aid? Merit aid? Have you run NetPriceCalculators and talked with your parents?

Well my only in-state is KU, and thats my safety school. As for any financial aid, I may be able to find some scholarships, although I’m pretty confident that we will be able to pay most of my fees. I will need financial aid nonetheless, but I haven’t started exploring that yet.

The #1 source of scholarship is the university itself. Have you run the net price calculators? What’s your EFC? How must are your parents willing to pay?
Your list is very reach-heavy, you need to find a few matches.
