My stats are so:

GPA Unweighted: 3.77

Awards:

Probably some AP award in the future, sorry about the future stuff, I can't really give an honest take but based on my motivation I'm sure that I will get one
3 years of being the top ten within the nation on the National French Exam
Honor Roll
Hopefully National Honors Society

Summer: Worked as a receptionist at an Environmental Response company, and I am applying for the Page program within the U.S. Senate for my junior year.

Background:
State: Not telling because of safety purposes, however a state that doesn't produce a lot of ivy league applicants
Income: Less than 40,000 a years - single parent mom
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Hook: URM

Now my questions is, of course, do I have a chance? And is it true that I have a more likely chance because of the fact that I'm Hispanic and I am an under represented minority?

Honestly, besides the slightly low GPA, you are clearly Ivy material. Fortunately, your URM status could bump up the chances lowered by your GPA.

So, just based on my opinion/knowledge…

CHANCES:
-Boston College: low match
-Boston University: safety
-Brown: high reach
-Carnegie Mellon: high match
-Duke: low reach
-Dartmouth: high reach
-Columbia: high reach
-Cornell: low reach
-Emory: safety
-Georgetown: mid match
-Harvard: high reach
-Johns Hopkins: mid match
-NYU: mid match
-Tufts: high match
-University of Rochester: low match
-Yale: high reach

Good luck!

You’re still a junior? Looks like we’re in the same boat! You have a ton of time to bring that unweighted GPA up (it’s pretty good as it is now though). You might want to ask your counselor what your weighted GPA is. It’s good to know that kind of stuff. Anyway, your ACT is rather high. That’s AWESOME. Good for you! You clearly are Ivy material due to your ECs and your ACT. Since your ECs are so good, the schools might be willing to overlook the lower GPA. I mean, most colleges/universities are taking the holistic admissions approach (meaning they look at everything in the application NOT just GPA and standardized test scores) which will help you. Also, I thought I heard somewhere that colleges are required to admit a certain amount of minorities/disabled applicants every year. So, the fact that you are a minority could really work in your favor. Okay. Time for chances. :)
