I have really low scores but I am in a professional ballet company and am VERY involved at school. I got a 2040 on the SAT and a 28 on the ACT. Do I have any chances?

We need more information to give you any idea. The scores are obviously on the low end for Columbia. What about GPA? Any hooks?

Your SAT score may just be the killer I am sad to say. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t get in. Did you apply ED? Also, if you don’t get in…I’d recommend applying to Barnard if you’re a girl and don’t mind going to an all girl’s school. You can take as many classes as you want at Columbia, and you can continue to pursue ballet if you wish because Barnard has strong dancing classes. ^^

I applied ED. and I wrote my essay on my involvement in Environmental Science and how that has changed my perspectives.

You sound like an interesting candidate, so don’t get your hopes down. If you don’t get into Columbia, I’m sure there will be many other good schools scrambling for you. But Columbia may see past your SAT score as well & go for you…who knows. I’m hoping Columbia will see past some of my faults as well, so we’re in the same boat. :P

Thank you:)
