Hi guys, this is my very first post and I'm curious about what you guys think my chances are for the colleges listed above. I plan on majoring in business and most likely getting a MBA degree. I live in New York so maybe Cornell would be the better option for me in terms of financial issues. What do you guys think about the undergrad programs for business in each of these schools?

Ethnicity: Asian

SAT Scores (they suck)
Math: 700
Writing: 680 Essay: 10
Critical Reading: 630
***I just took the Oct one and I HOPE I did a lot better ( I'm feeling at least a 2100!! :) )

SAT IIS: WIll be taking US and Math Level 2 in Nov (WIll they count towards my application?)

Common App Ess: I wrote about the time when I decided to earn my own money by starting a small sale so I could stop wasting my parents' money. This is just the gist of it.

Does it seem like I have a good chance for these colleges? Particularly Cornell/Chicago?

I like your choice of college essay; it shows that you are willing to take matters into your own hands and are a responsible human being. That’s something which can be difficult to communicate in a college application. Overall, I’d say that you have a pretty decent application. Clearly, Michigan will be the easiest for you to get into. However, you might prefer Cornell for financial reasons as you mentioned. They are all great schools and really it would arguably come down to personal preference if you were accepted to all three. Good luck!
Chance me back?

Besides your SATs being a bit low, you seem to have a solid shot at Michigan. Cornell is definitely a reach but not impossible. UChicago is unlikely though.

Thanks guys! i@inside UChicago particularly likes our school, accepting a bunch of people from it each year. Will this increase my chances? I’m not too sure about Cornell ILR because not many people apply to it ED from my school.

Uncledrew, honestly, I don’t think so. The main reason that I think your chances at UChicago are low is that it is one of the few schools that really values standardized tests (as much as GPA). Most schools can overlook a weaker SAT if the applicant has a good GPA/ECs but UChicago doesn’t seem to do that as much. Nonetheless, if you have the financial capabilities to apply to (and potentially enroll at) UChicago, you might as well try your luck!

For UMich LSA, your GPA is low (admission average 3.85) and your SAT is also below the 25th percentile. It would be a reach for you from OOS. It would be tough even if you are from in state with these GPA and score. UMich Ross pre-admit would be a very high reach. Try to bring up your test scores if you really want to try UMich. The most reason admission rate is around 30% there and mid 50 SAT is 2040-2260.
