Upenn (ED)
UVA (EA)
Umichigan
stanford
UT, Austin

Also, if anyone would care to explain the downside of EA non-binding, that would be great. Thanks again.

GPA/HPA is kind of unstable, but not horrible. SAT and ACT scores are solid. I like how your EC’s and leadership positions are correlated with the field you want to go into–good move. I think you have very good chances at the schools you listed. Ivys and other top colleges are always crapshoots, though. Stanford looks for people that are REALLY good at something and have won Siemens or something of the like, so that may be a reach. Princeton is also sporadic. I recommend going for UPenn; their business program is phenomenal and you have some good EC’s to accomodate it. UT Austin would be a safety. What about your community service?

I think you can definitly count on Michigan, and UPenn ED seems like a good choice. That said, I think you’d need a really strong essay to get into Princeton or Dartmouth with your freshman year grades. Good luck!

You may be hurt somewhat by a slightly low gpa when going for the top schools on your list (mostly do to their reflexive selectivity rather than any academic shortcoming on your part given the steady rate of improvement.) Michigan and UVA seem like matches if your gpa doesn’t regress, and U Chicago doesn’t seem far off at all given the high standardized scores.

I am not quite sure what to make of your GPA since I don’t know what they are out of, but they sound fine with your stats for Michigan, UT, and UVA
Ivies are always up in the air but you seem to have a pretty fair chance at Wharton and NYU Stern-especially since your EC’s are right for your major.
Out of all pieces of advice I’ve heard for UChicago, I think “show them how quirky you are” has worked the best for successful applicants with stats like yours.
Good luck!!! :)

GPA is a bit of a fail… and you’ve got no stellar ECs :(((

if you apply ED to Penn you’ve got a shot, but other than that I’m thinking public ivy for you

As other people mentioned, your GPA may hurt you. Of course, there’s an upward trend which is always good. Your ECs are interesting-- I like that they are local and have to do with business policy. We have very similar stats and I am thinking about applying ED to Penn. I think you have a shot at Wharton and might as well take advantage of it if you are set on business. Good luck!!

Princeton - high reach
Dartmouth - low reach
Uchicago - match
Upenn (ED) - if ED, reach
UVA (EA) - if EA, match
Umichigan - match
stanford - high reach
UT, Austin - match

Princeton -reach, as it is for everyone because they’re insane
Dartmouth -low/mid reach
Uchicago( I believe it’s no-binding though i’m not sure, so maybe EA)
Upenn (ED) -i’d say you got a very good shot but all ivies are unpredictable so low reach/high match
UVA (EA) -match
Umichigan -match
stanford -high reach for everyone
UT, Austin -match/in
NYU- match/in

Best of luck to you and thanks for chancing me!

And UChicago - match/in

I agree with the consensus. Your scores are fantastic, however, your GPA and grades could be a bit better. Show good improvement and write some AMAZING essays, and you can get solid results.

Princeton -high reach
Dartmouth - reach
Uchicago-low reach/high match
Upenn (ED) -low reach/high match
UVA (EA) -match
Umichigan -match
stanford -high reach
UT, Austin -match
NYU- match

Push the committee activity a lot in your essays and your app. Make sure you let the officers know that you really are talented in education despite less than stellar grades. Good luck!

Princeton - high reach
Dartmouth - low reach
Uchicago - match / high match
Upenn (ED) - low-mid reach
UVA (EA) - match
Umichigan - match
stanford - high reach (Stanford is crazy)
UT, Austin - low match

Princeton: reach
Dartmouth: reach
Uchicago( I believe it’s no-binding though i’m not sure, so maybe EA): low reach
Upenn (ED): low reach
UVA (EA): match
Umichigan: match
stanford: reach
UT, Austin: match/low reach

Don’t worry too much about your freshman year stats. Your ECs are nice and they tie in well with your goals. They will notice that. Also, your scores are great too. You’ve shown improvement since freshman year and they’ll look at that as well. However, I’m not sure if these schools will overlook the grades completely. I say apply and see what happens.

Good luck and thanks for the chance.

I would have to say that ivys are going to be a high reach for you. you have good test scores and okay ECs (nothing stellar but in the right direction) but your GPA is pretty bad. you have to remember that most applicants to those kinds of colleges have stellar ECs/scores/gpa and plenty still don’t get in. I would say UVA/MIchigan would be a slight reach/high match. UT would be a perfect match.

Princeton-high reach 15%
Dartmouth-high reach 15%
Uchicago-mid reach 30%
Upenn (ED)-significant reach 20%
UVA (EA)-low reach 40%
Umichigan-low reach/high match 60%
stanford-high reach <15%
UT, Austin-low reach 40%

Unfortunately UVA and UT are required to prefer IS over OOS students, which makes it harder to get in. UMich is similar, but you have decent stats.

You’re GPA shows a fabulous upward trend, however, and your SATs are pretty good.
Just for your information, I believe Stanford and Princeton do not consider freshman year very much.

Princeton - reach
Dartmouth - mid-reach
Uchicago - match
Upenn (ED) - high reach
UVA (EA) - high-match; low reach
Umichigan - high match
stanford - reach
UT, Austin - safety

your ec’s are stellar
