do u think my low freshman gpa will hurt me, i heard somewhere princeton doesnt look at freshman gpa, and this year i only got one b (and i suck at math)

is that true? I mean im sure there are other attributes in a rower that they look at, not to mention 6k times and im a 5th generation rower, with my father starting out at vesper in philly, then to temple varsity 8 so hopefully they'll mayb a.) Think its in my blood or b.) see that i have a passion and legacy to uphold. Ive also run a marathon and am looking to run some more. i just started crew and i went from a 7:19 my first few times to a 6:55 in one spring season so hopefully i can do the same again. I'm hoping that my rowing, classical guitar, and other stuff will give me a good shot at princeton

Hopefully ill grow a little but my coach always tells me that some of the best harvard, princeton, and other ivy strokes and other seats have been shorter than me and alot of harvard rowers who have rowed in the crash b sprints have gotten slower times than 6:22, some even in the 6:30's

Oh ya, I don't know much about crew, I am a powerlifter and thought that I might be good at rowing while in college, so I contacted the coaches, and was told what erg times that I needed to be considered. Apart from that, I know nothing about rowing. What would you compare it to? Is it like long distance running where strength doesn't matter, and it's all about endurance, or is it more a strength-based thing where the stronger you are the faster you will row because less energy needs to go into each stroke.

I am about 165lbs and bench over 300, squat over 400, yet can't run a mile in less than nine minutes. I am all fast twitch muscle fiber because I sprint the 100m for track. Do I have potential to row, or should I not even bother do to my complete lack of endurance?

rowing is really unique, simply put, u have to pull as hard as u possibly can for the entire duration of the race. it requires the endurance of a long distance runner, yet u need to be able to generate alot of power, there are alot of factors which determine what its like also i.e. what seat u are, what race u are rowing (2k, 5k, 10k) and what boat your rowing in (8's,4's, sweeping or sculling. but overall u need both power and alot of endurance. And form really matters too, i mean u can be 6'6 200lbs and still suck because your form is horrible When my dad rowed for temple (they were sick they beat oxford and bunch of the ivies alot) in the 70's he was running 3 hour 15 minute marathons at least 4 a year and benching about around 320 and he was one of the best on his team. But if u could lose 6 pounds u could be a lightweight and prolly be sick, and u might wanna get into sculling, those are real short (2k usually) sprints that are all individual power, but from what i know about college rowing its all about the 8's, but u got the strength for sure u just need to work on the endurance, but by all means go for it, i am and i'm not a typical rower in terms of height.
