Chances for Duke, BC, and CMU...

Colleges I plan to apply to:
ED Duke
Boston College
Carnegie Mellon
University of Virginia
Tufts University
Brown University
Northwestern
John Hopkins

Senior now, but after my junior year, my GPA is:
3.74 uw
4.12 w

APs:
European History 5
Biology 5
US History 5
Literature 5
Government 5

Rank: not sure, but definitely in the top 15%, it's a pretty competitive school

SAT: Not sure if i want to send this in, see ACT score for why.
2060
700 M
710 CR
650 W

SAT IIs:
800 Math II
770 US History
790 Biology

ACT/writing:
33 composite

My ECs are pretty weak:
Been on trivia team, played Soccer, volunteered at local school during summers to help the little kids.
biggest thing is that I'm profoundly deaf.

What state do you live in?

Pretty much all aspects of your application are not at where they need to be for Duke. It, along with Brown, are out of reach; you EDing there will almost definitely be a waste. Hopkins, Northwestern and Tufts are more appropriate reaches, and you should be fine at the rest of the schools on your list.

NJ and thanks, i’ll just do the ED for Hopkins instead.

I’m new to this forum & am exploring the posts. What does “ED” stand for? Thx!

early decision, welcome, im new too :D

Your ACT is around 120 points stronger (roughly equivalent to a 2180). I’d send that in instead of the ACT.

I would say because of your ACT scores, matches to all except Brown and maybe Duke ED, since you dont list your EC’s, your class rank, I can’t really tell how good you are in relation to other people in your area.
