Additional Info:
I won an award for achievement in science from the Sigma Xi science research society.

I completed a research project my junior year which involved the genomic analysis of duckweed and have two published DNA clones on the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database.

I am currently conducting research at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense. I am conducting a detailed analysis of the spontaneous and oxime-mediated reactivations of VR-inhibited atypical butyrylcholinesterase.

I've talked to the field hockey coach a lot, and she seemed interested in recruiting me as I filled out additional forms beyond the regular online one, but she has not emailed me back in about 2 weeks...

So do you all think I should have hope? Or will at least get deferred?

I think it’ll be somewhat of a mid-reach. You should be fine depending upon essays, recommendations, etc. Good luck!

Chance me please! Thanks!

You’re eligible to get in, that’s all I can really say though.

I want to say that you’re at least qualified enough that you will get deferred in EA at worst, but i’m not sure.

An MIT student conjectured that MIT rejects 60% of fully qualified students…like you.

Good luck though. It’s not a matter of whether you’re good or not. It’s a matter of whether you fit in the school culture a bit more than others and whether you’re lucky that they want a student with a personality like you this year. At the end of the day, it’s about luck. If you don’t get in, you just had average luck, like most of your days. If you get in, don’t show off. Your luck will diminish probably because regression to the mean.

Though I must say that you taking initiative to fill out additional forms is nice.

Thanks for the input everyone, that’s what I figured.

I think your application will show you are well rounded.

While MIT is a reach school for all competitive applicants, I would say you are definitely in the running…

Crapshoot!

Chance me back
