Thank you so much!

I think you have a better chance for Regular Decision, but who knows. Your academic stats are right in GU’s range and your EC’s are above average.

Wow, I’m pretty much in the same boat as you are. I think a few people got in last year with similar stats for EA. We’re in that spot where you can’t really judge where you stand. I guess we’ll find out come December. Good Luck!

Thank you maverick and wizkid. I’m extremely worried about getting into Georgetown because its the only other school I’m applying to besides my fallback school! Wizkid, how do you think my chances for RD look if I got deferred? And I hope we both get in maverick! I saw your chance thread and you said you wrote and directed two plays, would you ever consider doing a movie if we both got into Gtown? I think it could be awesome!

Oh yeah, I’d love to. It’d be fun making a movie on their campus! Hopefully we’ll get in and have that opportunity. What’s your fallback school, iboyd?

It’s hard to tell. I know that there are limited spots for international students, so based on that, it might be a reach. If you were not international, you would probably have over 50% chance.

@wiz: Boyd isn’t international! He’s from Indiana. (I’m assuming you were talking to him, if you weren’t, this reply is pretty moot.)

Haha yeah I’m like the farthest thing from international! And my fallback school is Indiana University. It has a good business school and is very affordable from some scholarships, but it lacks the location, crowd, international programs, and just the general feel that Georgetown offers.

Why don’t you apply to other schools?

Lol I was exhausted when I posted that. My bad. I saw “Indiana” and somehow converted that to India.

I don’t blame you. India’s everywhere.

I got into Georgetown SFS RD, never tried EA with somewhat similar stats- a little lower even. Try for EA, worst that can happen is you’re deferred. They won’t reject anyone till RD. That being said, I cannot stress how important your essays and recommendations are. So really focus on those to differentiate yourself from all the other students with high gpas and sat scores. And if you’re writing on a political or world issue for the SFS essay, try to stay away from anything too controversial. We’d like to think that admission counselors can always see past their own biases, but that is simply not true all the time.

@mav Indiana University has a good business program and they’re giving me some really good scholarships so IU gives me the biggest bang for my buck out of other schools in my area. I just can’t find another school that has a good business school and doesn’t cost a lot. And purpenguin, my interviewer said that my essays were really unique and not like any others that he’s seen so I hope thats a good thing. We’ll just have to wait till December 15th to find that out!
