I want to focus on Economics and I believe I've shown my level of passion and commitment for the concept.
I live in California.

fluent in 5 languages?!?!? and u wana go to penn state with those stats...sorry but i think u should look at places in a much higher league! u would never have a problem getting into penn state's econ program, especially considering its the easiest out of any of the other business programs to get into, due to gpa reqs, but good luck in ur endeavors, and i am simply stunned by the 5 language thing!

JaradW, I am not sure what "league" you are talking about. Do you mean that "league" of the top 15 public universities in the country? Penn State University Park is in that one. The "league" of one of the strongest alumni bases in the country. Penn State is in that one, too. The "league" of having numerous majors in the top 10 in the country in their respective fields? Yup, University Park is also in that league. While speaking 5 languages and having a 3.9 is an incredible accomplishment, it does not overqualify someone for Penn State UP. People from PA just seem to have a jaded view of Penn State UP and take it for granted. It's a great school.

BTW, to the OP, you're in. You may want to look into applying to the SHC.

alright jec...no need for the high horse! psu is a great school...but it is nothing spectacular. sorry it just isnt! if u dare compare it to UVA or some of the UCs, i dont think ur on at all...

I mean, PSU UP is a great school, I know the rankings and whatnot, but there's no need to get all defensive of it. Haha, I kind of thought the same thing when I saw the OP's stats. Regardless, microecgirl, congratulations on your achievements and good luck at PSU! You'll be a great asset to any program, including the Economics one.

Jec was not out of line with his response, referring to PSU as being in a "lower league" of school is out of place. JaradW, I realize that it sucks that you didn't get into Schreyer but don't go back and belittle a school's reputation that you were all for a while back.

PSU is a great school and has some of the best programs in many fields. It is no Yale when it comes to reputation though but it graduates people with just a good of a degree with much less debt.

I don't how you expect someone to not take offense when you call the school "nothing spectacular" and of a "lower league", as both assessments are simply not true. Being a little defensive is a usual response to the level of condescension and insults you conveyed in your first post, as well as with the follow up. If you know the rankings, then you know that everything I said in my post was true. I am/was not getting on a high horse, as I was just pointing out the fault in your logic with your "league" comment.
