rank: 18/116 (i go to a small private school, our class is pretty competitve compared to other classes)</p>

<p>SAT Reasoning:
Math - 700
Reading - 700
Writing - 790</p>

<p>SAT Subjects:
Math II: 750
Literature: 660 (blehhh)
Spanish: pending, scores coming out soon, hoping for something higher than 700</p>

<p>ACT: Composite - 33
English - 35
Math - 31
Reading - 35
Science - 31
Writing - 8 (tear....)</p>

<p>AP Tests: US History - 4
English Language and Comp - 4
will take Biology, Calculus, and European History tests in the spring</p>

Harp for 6 years
school orchestra - 3 years
harps of ming (a local harp ensemble of about 12 girls) - 6 years
volunteering at hospital gift shop for 4 years (1000+ hours)
volunteering at church's bible club for children - 2 years
volunteering at nursing homes by performing harp - 2 years
secretary of class council - 3 years
secretary of executive board of national honor society - 1 year
summer internship at the Korea Daily newspaper in 2009</p>

<p>I suspect you have a very good chance of being admitted considering your gpa, scores, and ECs. I was surprised with the discrepancy between your SAT writing score (790) and your ACT score (8). Nevertheless, most of the information you posted seems favorable. Your AP tests are okay, but would be better if at least one of them were a 5. Your ECs help you stand out with your 6 years playing harp, including Harps of Ming and your 3 years with the school orchestra and class council. If your essay is strong too, I surmise you have a decent chance of getting in. Good luck!</p>

<p>It can’t really hurt you to have a bad AP score. It can only help you if you have a good one. Even that doesn’t have much bearing, but if you get a C in an AP class and 5 on the exam, they might be more forgiving (for lack of better word). What matters most is that you took the AP class.</p>
