I would say my essay was very strong. Recommendations, eh, they were standard. Of course we clearly have different scaling (I was not in the top 10% but I had a higher GPA) but I’d say you have a fair chance. To play it safe, I would keep close contact with people there and maybe submit extra side letters explaining your excitement about the school.

One thing you’ll learn this year: college admissions are a crapshoot. You will see kids with less extracurriculars and lower GPA get in to schools that you didn’t—schools that were supposed to be safeties. Also, just so you know, your socioeconomic status does count in non-need blind admission (Emerson is thankfully need blind).

Good luck! Class of 2016

Wow, thank you! That’s really helpful!

Hey, I got in EA with a 3.6 GPA and 1800 SAT.

Redo your SAT so that you can get higher scores. They give scholarships to the kids with really high SAT scores and that scholarship may decide whether or not you end up going there. Good luck! And you’ll love the hat they’ll send you if you get in :)

I think you should be in. If you could, try to get higher score (because somehow Emerson admission is number based)

Hope to see you (i was class of 2016 who deferred enrolment and will be class of 2017)
