Emerson?

Hey everyone,

I noticed that almost everyone in this forum in asking about their chances for Ivies, and I am NOWHERE near that. However, I desperately want to go to Emerson College in Boston for writing and publishing, and I was wondering what my chances would be? I'm applying early action.

Female, White, from Massachusetts.

GPA - 3.1 (I know, I suck)

SAT - 1920, I only took them once and am not taking them again. Math: 610, CR: 670, Writing: 640.

My school doesn't have class rank.

Just started taking AP's this year so I don't have any scores, but I'm taking AP Stats, Lit, and Studio Art.

EC: *300+ community service hours: local, in the U.S., and abroad.
*3 years of local youth group.
*4 years as a member and currently the president of a Great Outdoors Adventure Group.
*4 years of participating in the drama program as both a cast member and crew member.
*2 awards for excellence in writing and poetry.
*1 year playing soccer.
*4 years running track, made it to states (although I didn't place.)
*2 years on varsity ski team.
*1 year in art club (it's new this year.)

I worked this past summer for 20 hours a week at a hardware store.

I'm also, admittedly, pulling strings. An alumni who donates money to the school wrote me a recommendation, and a friend of my father knows the director and is arranging for me to meet with her (potentially.)

So... do I have a good shot?

Thanks for reading :)

bump. Please?

I don’t really know that much about Emerson but I think you have a fairly good shot. Your GPA is a little low, but not bad.

Why not take the SATs one more time…or even the ACT? You’ll usually do better on your second time around!
