Chances for Exeter, Andover, etc etc.

Hey! I’ve been scrolling through a lot of the chance me posts so I decided to do one myself, haha.

I’m applying for 9th grade, I’m in 8th.

School:

Straight A’s both years, I doubt it will affect too much in the application but I’ve been in gifted classes for about 5 years, doing advanced courses and all that.

Clubs:

Debate Club
Art in World culture club, which focuses on basic principles and elements of art and teaches you how to critique different art works of art (took this quote from a website, as it basically summarizes it).

Recommendations:

I expect/assume they’ll be good, as I get along well with my teachers, though one of them is new (she replaced another one) and I’ve only known her for a short period of time.

SSAT

Will be taking it soon, according to a lot of practice tests, the overall score should be around 95-99 percentile.

Sports:

Fencing
Horseback riding, two sports I’ve practiced since I was four so I’m kinda confident in my skills.

Volunteering

At a nature center & an animal shelter.
I also rehab wildlife with my mom, she’s a vet.

Awards

I’m not gonna say specifics bc it’s private but I have mostly awards from fencing competitions.
I did win an art contest that focused on the Earth and climate change but that’s about it.

Instruments

Trumpet, I’ve played it for four years, and the piano, which I’ve only played for 1 1/2.
I’m part of Honors Band, Jazz Band, & Symphonic band, where we go to band festivals often, mostly “supreme” and “excellent” awards in sight reading and certain pieces we play.

Other stuff:

I’m a domestic applicant in Florida, haha.

Random stuff:

Got covid
Have a pet raccoon

Have you started on your essays yet? Those will have a huge impact on your admissions chances. You have a strong profile, but it doesn’t jump out to me immediately what your passions are. Do you have any idea of what you want to be when you grow up? If you don’t know, that’s fine (many adults don’t have themselves figured out yet), but you need to at least know what you are interested in right now. Admissions officers are not looking for well-rounded students- they are looking to build a well-rounded class, and your job is to show them how you will contribute. Oh, and those random facts? Include some of them that showcase your personality in your application. Some of the most trivial things can translate into amazing essays. One of my essays was about Monopoly!

Wish you the best!

Here’s the answer. http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-chances/2200425-right-here-are-your-chances-for-the-gladchemms.html#latest

Haha, yep, I’ve started on them  And yes, I want to be a veterinarian, which explains why I love to volunteer at shelters and rehabilitate wildlife  and okay, I’ll make sure to include them  Thank you so much

Have you looked at Thatcher? Their horse program is kinda a big thing there.
Or Millbrook? They have a zoo, and you could volunteer there.

How important is continuing fencing and horseback riding to you?

I’ve heard about both schools but never checked them out so I’m going to do that, thank you so much  Also, it would be nice if I got to continue w/ fencing, specially. I’d be okay if I took a break though.

Also, if you are a girl, you might consider some of the all girls schools.

In particular, Dana Hall has both fencing and equestrian teams.
