Chances for FA

If My parents make a combines $140,000 dollars and are divorced. My Mom makes $50,000 and Dad $90,000 a year. They have split custody, and are currently supporting my sister in college at about $25,000 a year. What are my chances of Financial Aid reading this board it sounds slim. I'm going to be a Junior in HS next year. So I'm just looking at the possibility of attending thins school.

Practically none. My parents make a little less than that and we are paying in full. Any assets and your sister’s college may influence their decision but I doubt you would get anything very significant.

You might get aid. FAFSA relies on your custodial parent’s financial information. The person you live with for most of the year. They also take into consideration other family members enrolled in college. Also, if you have high stats, good EC’s, leadership and volunteer experiences as well as a killer essay, you have a shot as some merit aid. NYU does give out some limited merit aid. NYU does not meet 100% of need, but you will never know what they may give you till you apply. With that said, you should always apply to a well rounded mix of colleges, some financial safeties, some academic reaches and research colleges that provide 100% of need and those who offer good merit aid.

Thank You M&S
See I figure I only need some FAFSA aid, I just want to reduce as much Student Loans as possible. My parents can cover the majority of the costs. I was just wondering if I could get any support.
