Financial aid!

Hypothetically, how much aid could NYU give me if my parents' income combined is around 120k-130k? I know NYU does not meet 100% of demonstrated need. Does anyone with that parents' income received enough aid to attend NYU and still have the possibility of graduating without drowning in debt?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

finaid also depends on assets (property owned, morgage, etc) another child in college at the same time…etc…

With an income like you mentioned i still think you would be paying a hefty amount.

well that sucks :’(

you never know, apply anyways

My parent’s income is about 45k, and I got 30k per year in awards. I called the financial aid office to ask for more, and the people I spoke to said they gave me the maximum amount for my parent’s income.

I had a combined income of slightly higher and got no “real” financial aid, just loans.

I also have a brother in college so I was surprised by my aid. But like someone already said, it depends on assets and savings and stuff. I had like 40k in savings that my dad set up years ago and my family just recently paid off our mortgage which doesn’t help. They literally look at EVERYTHING including retirement savings and such…

But you should ALWAYS apply because you might get lucky!

woopthack and NYUSternie said I should apply anyway, but just because of my parents’ retirement savings I shouldn’t get much. sigh This is (was, I guess) my dream school right after Penn :(

your parents EFC may be around 30,000 if it just based on income and no assets, leaving you with 28000-30,000 gap. Even with Stafford loans, NYU does not meet 100% of need.

I’m Hispanic if that helps in anything at all…

Chamii, unfortunately, that doesnt help. We are muticultural african americans and that gave us nothing!

I’m still applying. What the heck!
