Do you have an SAT / ACT?
Your major will probably help - i.e. I’m guessing not too many.
What is your unweighted GPA? How is your rigor?
Make sure you attend a couple webinars or visit if you can.
Their 25/75 is 3.70 to 4.22 so you’ve got a chance but not sure how decent and likely without merit. Not sure if there’s a cost limitation you have or if you qualify for need.
You definitely need other schools - and there are other similar. Initially AU was my daughter’s first choice but she fell in love with College of Charleston, as an example, and chose it over AU. It’s a bit more urban than AU - but you need a “safety” like that…just in case…or perhaps you already have a list.
You have a chance but I’m guessing not a huge chance.
Best of luck.
I like the fact you interviewed in person with Japanese professor - shows real interest. Assuming that went well and you followed up with a thoughtful thank you letter it will help demonstrated interest, which I believe is important to AU. You have a definite shot but should of course have back up choices.
Yes, a thank you email was written to professor. In fact, the professor wrote a thank you email for interview BEFORE we could get one out to thank professor! Hoping it helps to carry weight
Thanks for reply— I’m a bit unsure how to calculate W/UW GPA, actually. Our school only posts weighted numerical overall average out of 100 scale on transcript. Numerical overall weighted average is 95.35…. Can you tell me what the w or uw gpa would be? Much thanks!!
Your school should have an A range. b range.
A = 4. B = 3. C=2 etc.
Do they share your grades b4 weighting in letter form?
You got a 3.82 wtd so I assume they do.
Anyway, what are your safeties. You always need them. Always. Even if they’re not used.
Accepted in early Nov to U Albany, SUNY New Paltz, U Delaware
I’m not sure if weighted GPA is 3.82, I did a quick calculation to figure it out but I could be wrong. I was wondering if there’s a formula to figure out weighted GPA without going through every single class since ninth grade
Most schools use a +.5 for Honors and +1 ap
So an honors a = 4.5 and ap = 5
Honors b = 3.5 and ap b = 4
Not every school uses that but most do. You’d have to check with AU or it might be on their website. It’s a quick calculation.
Do you calculate every class 9-11th grade? Or just 11th grade?
You’d have to ask. Some use 10-11 but most 9-11 and they likely do. Just 11th - no.
Anyway no need to fret. You have some good admits You either will or will not get in.
No matter how much you analyze on here it won’t change the final decision.
You did it right - have schools you are already in. Good luck.
Very helpful! Thank you!!
Hi, to add to our conversation yesterday, I emailed our guidance counselor today to check the GPA calculation, since I thought I might be off, and she just responded “unweighted: 4.037, Weighted on the 4.0 scale would be 4.077.”
Hoping that helps him more! Thanks for your input yesterday.
that tells me you have no honors or AP - well you said you had 3. and if you’re on a 4 point scale you have almost straight As. And they give credit for pluses.
Like I said, you got great ins. It doesn’t matter how we chance you as we are not the AOs. You’ll know soon enough. Best of luck to you.
Thanks but now I’m really confused. This is from the guidance counselor, and he does have three APs, and honors, and I dual enrollment.
Nothing to be confused. Wait for AU. Only they matter. Good luck.
AU does not consider interviews in the admissions process.
The interview will not count in the admissions process. If it’s included in the “Why AU?” essay it might help, but professors are not consulted for and interviews are not included in admissions for AU.
AU does not admit by major.
An unweighted GPA can be no more than 4.0.
AU uses the following scale to calculate GPA:
4.0=A
3.0=B
2.0=C
1.0=D
0.0=F
For the weighted GPA, you would add on .5 for honors courses and 1.0 for AP courses.
