I was recently accepted to Northwestern as a transfer, but am facing strong headwinds in terms of financial aid. My parents are in the "middle class blindspot" - a limbo where families w moderate incomes receive no aid, but are not wealthy enough to pay $45k+/yr, especially in light of new, substantial expenses.

Is there any chance of me getting financial aid through an appeal? I am also concurrently negotiating with another university on the financial aid situation and would like some insight from anyone who has experience with this process.

Thanks for all your time and consideration.

no chance at northwestern this year unfortunately. I am in the same situation, spoke with the head of finaid, no transfers are receiving any grant money this year

bummer. I’ll still call though I guess; and I was looking forward to visiting next week haha. Better cancel my ticket.

Overhead you’re leaving Penn right? Are you still going to NU given the aid situation?

yea let me know if you get a different response haha. Well not sure now, looks like i might have to stay. If its really going to cost that much more at NU it would probably be a bad call, especially considering I dont know how much aid I would get the following year when they said my full need will be “met”
