Chances for Georgia Tech and Cornell with a horrible GPA?

I'm an Asian American from Texas
I will be entering my senior year this fall

Intended Major: Mechanical Engineering

SAT: 2030 (R:610, W: 630, M: 800)
SAT IIs: Math lv 2: 800; US history: 710
ACT: 34 composite (33 E, 36 M, 32 R, 35 S) Essay: 10

I go to an extremely difficult public school in Texas (I am not making an excuse; I am clarifying the discrepancy between standardized test scores and gpa/class rank).

Class Rank: 126 / 542 (Barely top quarter) but might have went up or down after junior year.
UW GPA: 3.3

I have taken the hardest classes (honors and AP) offered so far.
I have taken 4 APs thus far and I am taking 9 (2 self-taught) this year.

AP World History: 3 (without taking the class)
AP English Language and Composition: 5
AP US History: 4
AP Stats: 4

I've been part of my school's varsity tennis team for 4 years
I've volunteered 120-125 hours throughout high school

I am a member of:
Mu Alpha Theta (3 yrs)
National English Honors Society (2 years)
Chess Club (2 years)
Red Cross (3 years)

I appreciate all input/advice given!
These schools are at the top of my list, but I know my GPA might hurt my chances; I am open to hearing suggestions regarding other engineering schools.

my post is getting buried so bump.

You will be fine for Georgia Tech, but I think Cornell is pretty hopeless. Purdue has a great engineering reputation. If you are in Texas, although clearly not top 7%, your ACT will give you a leg up. A&M will clearly take you and it has a fine engineering reputation.

Thanks for your post. I haven’t looked into Purdue much, but I’ll be sure to check it out.

Georgia tech you have a chance, but Cornell, you need to write a very good essay!! And hope for the best!
