Hi,
I applied Early Action for Harvard this fall. I am from North Carolina. I am wondering what my chances of acceptance might be.
SAT
800 math, 800 writing, 740 reading
SAT 2
800 math 2, 800 World History, 780 Literature
GPA unweighted : 4.0
AP Scores: 5s on World History, psychology, lang, human geography, apush, apes, calc ab, calc bc, and macroeconomics
I am ranked 3rd in the nation in my event in Speech and Debate. I have interned with a mayoral candidate, made 1st chair of the violas in my youth orchestra, and attended Governor’s School this past fall, where I researched environmental injustice and conducted a seminar on stereotypes.
Any thoughts on my chances would be greatly appreciated!
This is going to be cliche, but nobody really knows; Harvard is a reach school for everybody.
You’re definitely a competitive application, but now it comes down to essays, personality, etc.
Good luck! I applied as well you should participate in the Harvard 2021 SCEA discussion!
A college admission board member told me a secret last year. “Schools like risk” its hard to differentiate beween high performance people such as yourself ex: 4.0, 800s, AP, etc. They look at your hobbies/extra curriculars to determine personality heavily. A good risk taking example would be racing no seat unicycles over hot coals on the weekend. Its a real think i checked haha. Add some risk to your application.
Being a risk taker means youll be able to leave college and maybe start a business or reinvent something instead of the status quo.
Hey, I applied to Harvard SCEA too! Stats-wise, you’re practically a perfect candidate, and your ECs sound very impressive. From there, it comes down to the essay, recs, and a lot of luck Hope you get in!
There is nothing there that immediately stands out as rejection worthy, so you have as good as a chance as the many, many qualified people who apply. Good luck!
