What are my chances..

SAT: 2400

Senior year course load: AP English, AP calculus, AP Physics, AP Political Science, AP economics, AP Chemistry or Biology (haven't decided yet), health

And when I send in senior year quarter/semester grades, I have straight As and A+s as well

Spanish club - president
National Spanish Award
Nation merit award of the PSAT
Future Business Leaders of America
Team Kids (community service club)

And lots of community service

4 glowing teacher recommendations and an outstanding essay

2 excellence awards from teachers in junior year

Race: Other Asian

Out of these schools (Dartmouth, NYU, Tufts, John Hopkins, Cornell, Harvard, UC Berkeley, UCLA) which might I be able to get into?

I basically want to know the most prestigious school I can get into.. I know Harvard is wayyy out of hand, but I want to know if there's any possibility still?

Thanks in advance ;D

Your SAT score is perfect but your GPA is really low for the Ivies. However, your other things sound very good. If you for looking for the most “prestigious school” you could get into, it probably won’t HYP. Your chances are good for UCB, UCLA, NYU, and Tufts. If you do ED for Hopkins or Cornell, you’ll have a better shot than RD.

Chance me back?

Dartmouth: Reach
NYU: Match
Tufts: Low reach
JHU: Low reach —> match
Cornell: Low reach
Harvard: High reach
UC Berk: High reach
UCLA: Match if you live in CA , low reach if not.

Thanks! &I do live in California

You have a very good chance of getting into UC Berkeley and UCLA, as they are quite objective in their admissions process. NYU and Tufts are also matches for you. You have a decent shot at Cornell and Darthmouth.

Chance Back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1689813-chance-me-for-ut-austin-computer-science.html#latest

Great scores and it definitely helps that you’ve gotten good grades for the most recent years. Your extracurriculars are good because they show involvement in academics outside of the classroom. Harvard and Dartmouth are reaches for everyone but you definitely have a really good chance for all the others.

Your upward GPA trend should help you, but I’m not sure you’ll be able to overcome a 3.5 UW for Harvard, Dartmouth, and maybe Cornell. On the other hand, 2400 is extremely impressive so I would say you have a good shot at all the others, especially the UC’s. Expect to get into two of NYU, UCLA, Tufts, and maybe JHU or UCB.

@kittycatyeah‌ You have a chance at all of these schools, but you are going to have to convince the admissions committees that your slacker days are behind you. I have no idea how easy this is to do. I suspect you will have more diifficult going in the EA/ED round as schools are going to want to see your first semester grades to see if you can keep up the As with the more rigorous schedule. The 2400 will help, but grades are more important that test scores for these schools.

Dartmouth: Reach
NYU: high match
Tufts: Low reach
JHU: Low reach
Cornell: mid reach
Harvard: High reach
UC Berk: High reach
UCLA: low mid reach
Thanks for changing me

I feel like Harvard would be a high reach but u could get into the other ivies such as but or Cornell. Ucla or ucb sound Like a better match too. Ur gpa is kinda low but everything else is awesome. And thanks for “chancing” mine:)

bump ;D

If you only slacked off freshman year, you may have had a chance at these schools. The problem is that you slacked off Sophomore year, too. All of the schools on your list are not just high reaches but probably out of your reach. What is your GPA excluding Freshman year? Depending on your answer, the mid-tier UCs may be reaches, too.

(Yes, I am aware of your 2400. I had a 2300 and it did not help me at all.)

While the SAT is perfect, that GPA can really hurt. As much as you can, highlight your upward trend, dedication, and motivators. Was there an experience that was a wake-up call for you? Any realization that led you to change your academic style (not just “for college”). I would be surprised if you didn’t get into NYU or UCLA.

Dartmouth: low Reach
NYU: Match
Tufts: high match
JHU: low reach
Cornell: Low reach
Harvard: High reach
UC Berk: High reach
UCLA: high match

Regarding your GPA, you should be fine if you can display and highlight a passion for improvement in your essays, however UC’s are pretty harsh about academics so it’s hard to say. Try to take some SAT II’s.
The 2400 will give a pretty smooth boost though, and the EC’s show good strong leadership.

Chance please! :)

Your SAT may make up for your lower GPA, so it’s going to come down to your essays. Your ECs are superb, so make sure to spend the time on those essays because that’s what’s going to make or break you.

Dartmouth: Reach
NYU: Match to Low Reach
Tufts: Low Reach
JHU: Low Reach
Cornell: Reach
Harvard: High Reach
UC Berk: Low Reach
UCLA: Match

Chance back please?

My UC gpa (excluding freshmen year) is 3.8 unweighted and 4.04 weighted, so I think I’m fine for the UC schools ;D
