Chances for Harvard SCEA- the wait begins...

I think I’m a pretty accurate evaluator of my own chances, but maybe not. What do you guys think? I’m worried about my supplement and the fact that I could be viewed as a “standard strong” applicant.

SAT I (breakdown): NA
ACT (breakdown): 36 (E:36 M:35 R:35 S:36)
SAT II: Biology M 800, Literature 800
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.87
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): UW: 1/387, W: 3/387
AP (place score in parenthesis): Nine AP tests, mostly 5s
IB (place score in parenthesis): NA
Senior Year Course Load: AP Language, Anatomy Honors, Organic Chem I (dual credit), Differential Equations/Linear Algebra (dual credit), Spanish 4 (literally learned Spanish from holasoygerman on youtube and neighbor, am pretty fluent, and have tested out of Spanish 1-3, so will test out of this soon), Pharmacology (dual credit), Psychology (dual credit), Government (Dual credit), Gym (lol, trying to take this online bc gym)

Junior year I took more AP classes than anyone I knew and some of them were kind of a joke. I didn’t want to take many AP classes senior year because I love the community college where I take classes and the value of a class is really important to me.

Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):

United States Senate Youth Program
Coolidge Scholarship “Senator”
President’s Volunteer Service Award: Gold
National Spanish Exam Gold Medalist
National Merit Semifinalist
National AP Scholar
Bunch of Science Olympiad awards at state/regional level

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):

Lieutenant Governor of Key Club (tri-state leadership board)
Internship with the US Senator of my state
Policy Board Member of my state’s Youth Council, we’re writing an Omnibus Bill (super exciting!)
Co-Chair of my county’s Youth Commission
Columnist for city’s newspaper with 70,000 daily readers
“Team Leader” (think Chair-type deal) of world famous hospital’s Young Volunteer program
Mentorship with doctor at said hospital
Science Olympiad- I won many medals, worked harder than anyone I knew, and was really sad when the elections for captains came down to a popularity contest. So no real leadership in that organization, but it used to be my passion
County-appointed board member of county’s Environmental Commission
County-appointed board member of county’s Community Advisory Committee
Cashier at grocery store
National Honor Society
National Spanish Honor Society

Essays (rating 1-10, details): I loved my common app essay. But to be honest, it was completed at the last minute. If anyone wants to read it, I would love to PM it!
My supplement was a reflection on the USSYP listed above. It was reused from another application. I’m worried about it. It doesn’t detract, but it probably doesn’t add.

Recommendations (rating 1-10, details):

Teacher Rec #1: 10/10.
Teacher Rec #2: 10/10.
Counselor Rec: 9.5/10. Counselors at my school turn over fairly quickly, so I’ve only known her for a year or so. She really likes me and knows how motivated I am.
Additional Rec: 9/10. Really positive, but more of a list of stuff I’ve done than my qualities. It’s more the style of the rec than the content I’m iffy about.
Interview: Haven’t had it yet

Other

Applied for Financial Aid?: No
Intended Major: Double major in political science and who knows what else
State (if domestic applicant): Midwest state that doesn’t send many students to Harvard
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: High
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None

@pineapple86 - great stats. Good luck

Let me know how you do!

bump

I think if your essays sound sincere, you should get in. Which honors and ECs did you list on your CA? And in which order of importance? Or did you submit a resume to fit everything?

If URM, you’re in. Otherwise could be a crap shoot. You’ll need some luck. Good Luck. Let us know how it works out

@doorrealthe I listed everything either in the Activities section or the Additional Info section.

@preppedparent I’m a white female. Thanks for responding!

If your essays and recommendations are as strong as you believe them to be, I’d be very surprised if you didn’t get in. But if you don’t get into Harvard, I’m sure there are many other selective colleges that would love to have you!

@BldrDad Thanks for the kind words! I’m sure about my recommendations, but it’s hard for me to be objective on my own essay. I kind of finished it at the last minute, so I didn’t have it proofread by too many people.

When do you know if you got in?

I’ll most likely find out sometime this week. We’re thinking the 13th…@averageteen2000

I know it’s never good to say that anyone is a shoo-in with regards to a school as selective as Harvard, but you seem to be as close to a shoo-in as I’ve seen. The only thing I could see working against you is location, as well as possibly race. Good luck!

@TheCrimsonBulldog I was just looking at your threads lol! We seem to be interested in a lot of the same things, and you’re a very strong applicant as well. Not that it matters at this point, but I’ve always considered my location an advantage in the application process. Why do you think it will work against me?

@pineapple86 did you get in?

@MomEof3: according to Post #14 on Harvard Class of 2021 EA Results Thread, @pineapple86 was accepted.
