Chances for Harvard, Stanford, UPenn, USC....

I haven't decided which schools I want to go to yet but the ones in the title are the ones I am definitely applying to.

SAT I: 2300
SAT II: Biology 740, US History 780, Literature 780
Unweighted GPA: 3.8
Weighted GPA: ~4.38
Rank: I'm not sure. My school does percentile and I think I'm in the top 5%
AP score: AP Human Geo (4), AP US Hist (5), Calc AB (4), Biology (5), Lang (5)
Senior year: 5 ap classes
Major Awards: AP Scholar w/ distinction, DECA awards, FBLA awards, not much really...

EC:
TENNIS
-Club: Taught private lessons before for a few months
-Highschool: On varsity team all 4 years

CSF
-Member for 2 years, president in the 12th

DECA/FBLA
-Was VP of DECA in 11th grade; I combined our school's DECA and FBLA teams to form one Business Club that was project-oriented. President of that in 12th grade
-Won state and national prizes in both DECA and FBLA

LUCE (Hispanic club)
-Member for two years
-President in 12th grade; raised several thousand for club
-Went to Mexico for a week for charity

TUTORING
-Tutored English 4 hrs a week, for two years

BUSINESS
-I saved this EC for last because this was my biggest passion throughout highschool. This project took me thousands of hours and is my biggest accomplishment! It was a t-shirt business that had provocative designs/quotes/sayings/etc. about certain topical issues and the money that the t-shirt made went towards that corresponding charity. I would love to show the website to anyone who messages me and asks for it.

JOB
-Worked at my uncle/dad's credit repair business.
-Variety of mundane tasks: answering phone calls, data entry, advertisement, calling businesses, talking to people, handing out flyers, website design, etc..
-Was not paid ;)

INTERN
-I interned for a congressman that my grandfather knew.
-It was extremely boring and the congressman was rude...I don't even feel like putting this on my app.

SUMMER
-Harvard SSP summer going into 12th

Essays: Fantastic. I started these in the summer and I've had several teachers review them. In one of them I talked about how being born to two teenagers did not limit my development. Also talked about how emotionally painful it was moving away from my mother to my wealthier father....
Recs: Great, I'm sure.
Counselor Rec: Great.

Other:
State: California
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Mexican
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: 250,000+
Hooks: URM, first gen to go to colllege
Major: Business

Oh, and I moved schools after 9th grade.
I'm hoping my EC will pull me through--as I've spent nearly half my time focusing on academics and half my time on my ECs.

I’ll chance those who chance me, by the way :)

I’d say you are in at UPenn and USC but I can’t guarantee Harvard or Stanford, but you’re an excellent candidate. Good luck!

You are definitely a worthy candidate for UPENN and USC but Harvard and Stanford are very unpredictable. I wish you the best of luck. Can you please send me your website?

Upenn and USC looks solid
arent you applying to the other UCs?
not sure about Harvard or Stanford
anyways best of luck
Chance me!!

You’ll probably get in everywhere because you are a smart Mexican

@actingjohn: Sure thing, I’ll send it your way.
@Branches92: Is that the only reason?

And if anyone wants to know, I raised $50k so far in the business.

And I also applied to Northwestern.

Oh and austrakast, I’m not applying to other UC/CSU because I want to be far from home :)

Lol… ignore Branches92.

You’re in at USC and most likely Northwestern.
Not sure about UPenn, Harvard and Stanford.

Good luck! :)

above average chances, I think you’d be a great fit for Wharton

In at USC . Harvard and Stanford are always a toss-up, but your stats look great!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1060187-chance-urm-usc.html</a></p>

he’s definitely not “in at Penn” if he’s applying for Wharton, but you shouldn’t have any problems with USC

Is it because it’s a really tough school or…?

Are you applying to Wharton or CAS?

In USC but I’m not sure with the rest of the colleges!

Chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1065173-my-complete-college-list-do-you-like-them-can-i-get-accepted.html</a></p>

I’m applying to Wharton.

I’m feeling down and this site makes me feel good. Wow, how pathetic. Anyway…

I think you’d be a great candidate! My brother is graduating from Wharton this year and his stats were… 2390 on SAT, 4.6-4.7 GPAW , and 4.0 GPAUW. Yea… He was an IB student. Your ECs are quite impressive and I think FBLA will actually help a lot. Although, I still recommend applying to say, NYU Stern as a back-up. It’s a great business school, #3 in the world and the FBLA captain from our school goes there and loves it because some of the options for experience are wider. Wharton is extremely competitive and difficult to get in. Your GPA is a bit low(even your weighted), but it’s not all about that! Focus on your essay, that’s probably the most important component to college apps!

Which events did you do in FBLA?

Harvard - hmmm… i guess reach
Stanford- very unpredictable but i also guess reach
UPenn- low reach
USC- a good nice match

Your ECs sound amazing and ur academics are quite good. Obstacle might be that you did too many things :P

chance me… please

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1064001-hy-amherst-cornell-georgetown-duke.html#post1066196476</a></p>

Wharton/Harvard/Stanford = reach or low reach
USC = match

pick some schools in between (berkeley, columbia, etc.)
