If you've taken the most challenging courses at your HS and have strong recs, then you've got a real good shot. What are your academic interests? Do they align well with the strengths of WU? If they do, then emphasize this when you interview. Also be sure to indicate in the interview that WU is your first choice, if this is the case. Finally, emphasize what you would add to the WU community, rather than only focusing on what WU could do for you.

Your SAT M+CR is way below the WashU 25th percentile (1360). Even with your excellent class rank, GPA and URM status, WashU would be a real long shot for you. On the other hand, if you really like the school, and (here's the important part) if you believe on your SAT retake that you can push your M+CR above 1360, then apply. If you don't think you can push your M+CR above 1360, I'd say you'd probably be wasting your money by applying.

Try taking the ACT too. Some people do better on that one.

I disagree with amptron2x for three reasons. First, my experience serving on admissions committees at Wash U (not at the undergrad level however) lead me to believe that your SAT scores would not kill your application. Second, you've got other factors in your favor, which you should emphasize. Third, I know there are current WU undergrads with grades and scores like yours. They were admitted because they excelled in other ways, which their applications made clear.

I'm sorry to try to hijack your thread but I was wondering if anyone (especially showmethedata) could give me chances ED. I'm a white female applying to the business school.

ACT 32
SAT 710 M 710 Cr 780 W
SATII 730 USHist 700 Math IIC

GPA 3.6 UW 3.98 W taking 4 APs senior year

I've been in 3 high schools so some of my extracurriulars look a little strange:

President service club 11
Secy Habitat 12
piano 8 years - 2 high school diplomas thru Guild
Band 9-12
Youth Leadership Group
NHS
AP Scholar
National Merit Commended (missed by 1 point)
about 400 volunteer hours
etc.

A possible hook is that I am doing my senior year in London.

I visited and am showing a lot of interest - I'm in touch with the international and the midwest representatives and I applied ED.

nati88 - I think you have a really good shot.
wustled - you are in (ED)
