<p>Hi everyone! I'm a junior and I'm applying EA for Harvard and Yale/Princeton next year. Here are my stats:</p>

<p>GPA: 4.51 by end of junior year, unweighted 4.0
SAT: 2230 superscored (710M, 720R, 800W, 12 essay!)
ACT: 33 (35E, 33M, 34R, 30S, 8E) retaking for 34
PSAT: 219
APs:
Freshman year (none offered)
Sophomore year
-AP World (5-only offered), pretty much self studied this because we did nothing in class
Junior year
-AP US History, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP English Language, AP Studio Art (all solid As first semester)
Senior year (prospective)
-AP Government, AP Biology, AP English Literature, AP Studio Art, AP Calculus</p>

<p>Honors courses:
english freshman and sophomore years, algebra II sophomore year, chemistry sophomore year, history freshman year </p>

<p>Uhhh extracurriculars
-founded my own organization called HOPE which sends supplies such as clothing, toiletries, bedding, etc. to Latin American countries. We began with an orphanage in Haiti and branched out to Costa Rica this year. It all began after the 2010 earthquake there. Have done many events at school and at the summer camp where I work as a counselor/administrative assistant. We've also started clubs in elite private schools across the country (which send students to Harvard/ivies every year, so they'll be familiar with that). We started working with Feed My Starving Children, a famous organization which is now helping us get our supplies to Latin America. We are meeting with the president of it soon!

-won several national contests (ex: ravsak - first place)
-some of my paintings are being exhibited right now at a nearby, well-known university
-yearbook editor in chief for 3 years for the whole school
-summer job working as an administrative assistant/counselor
-worked with mentally disabled children 9th-10th-12th grades, teaching them to get active and play sports. i got my friends to do this too (isn't this what they're looking for? like making the people around you better?)
-editor of key club 3 years
-vice president of National art honor society
-varsity tennis team, treasurer of Israel advocacy club, very active NHS member, national spanish honor society, etc other things</p>

<p>Assuming i write a very strong essay too, and get good recs, what do you think my chances are for EA? Thanks everyone and good luck!</p>

<p>Focus more on your art when you explain your EC’s. That’s where it looks like you have found a passion, whereas the others (besides the charity) are just a random smattering of the old standard.</p>

<p>both charity and art are passions lol. i love helping people and (i forgot to write this) to combine both passions, this summer I’m making an art program to send pictures to the orphans at the summer camp where i work</p>

<p>I would recommend that you really emphasize your art/charity. Top colleges seem to really look for someone who has found one passion and stuck with it.</p>

<p>A 35 or 2350 would compliment those exceptional extracurriculars well from what I’ve heard. With such high grades in advanced math, maybe you can raise the math score a touch? And there’s always the 30 on the ACT science. You should be able to raise that with a couple practice tests. It’s mostly general scientific reasoning as opposed to specific content anyways, so just try to become as familiar as possible with the format. Raise those two areas, and you’re in the 35 range. Congrats on the charity though! That’s really cool! I’ve volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in Minneapolis before.</p>

<p>bgallo, the problem is i keep getting 800s on math on SAT practice tests but then i take the real thing and make SO many careless mistakes! (like overlooking > versus ≥ and adding 77 and 12 to get 77 as the answer somehow…). So is it worth doing the SAT again? I took it 3 times but the first one was just to see what I would get, and there’s always score choice, right? lol</p>

<p>Have you only taken the ACT once? To my knowledge, the two tests are considered equally. From my own experience and friends I’ve helped, an improved science score can be achieved with a little familiarization. I believe most Ivies accept the ACT with writing and SAT subjects.</p>

<p>ive taken it twice and am taking it once more (maybe twice) to get to a 34 (and hopefully 35 if I’m lucky and it’s an easier test!). And science varies SO much with me. I can get a 34 on one test and a 28 the next… it’s the only wild card (as I’m sure you can see haha).</p>

<p>Don’t waste your time OP. your score is great, and if you think that the SAT is what counts, hop on over to the Princeton decision thread where 2360s were getting rejected and 2050s were getting accepted because they are more interesting students.</p>

<p>I just followed your instructions orion, and that really calmed me down. You’re right, the ones with 2170s and amazing ECs were accepted and even a fair amount of 2400s were rejected/waitlisted. I think everyone (including me!) just needs to realize that it’s only one small part of the application, and that if you’re in the range, you should be golden.</p>
