bump again?

If you really want to go to Stanford, then you should apply SCEA there. It shows the school you would go there if you got in (if you can afford it, of course). Plus it is not like you are binding to that school, you still would have until May to decide whether you really want to go there or not if you got in.

Your resume doesn’t seem very impressive to me. Of course, it all depends on how its portrayed in your application. HYPSM is much more than a low-reach for you, but if you apply to a bunch of schools in that range, basic probability says that you will most likely get into at least one, but definitely not more than a few.

Also, how in the world does a Wisconsin music competition have 200,000 participants. Is every kid forced to do it or something?

^ every kid from K-12 plays a variety of instruments (i.e. voice/ piano/ etc.)

I’d say you have a pretty good chance at HYPSM, but I feel uncomfortable telling people they’re a shoe-in for any of those schools because there are so many qualified applicants. But, you’re definitely up there
Just make sure your essay and recommendations are good (judging from your stats and EC’s I’m sure they will be) and interview!! So many people choose not to and why that is is beyond me.

My dad went to an Ivy and interviews prospective students all the time and he always tell me how each kid blows him away more than the last. Just be yourself and let your passion for what you do shine through (as cliche as that sounds, it’s true!) :)

Please chance me back!!!

Although Ivy’s are a hard reach for anyone, you will definitely get accepted to one of the schools you’ve listed :D! Congratulations on your hard work! Chance me?

There are only ~220,000 high school students in Wisconsin, what kind of competition is this that nearly every student participate in

^hellooooooo, did u just see my post >:D

I did, then I looked up your competition which clarified it. It’s out of 9,000 at state, which is from the 220,000 at district. A little misleading

“In all, there were 1,014,619 K-12 students in Wisconsin.”

[2011-2012 Wisconsin Student Census:
More Students Utilize School Choice Here Than Ever Before | MacIver Institute](2011-2012 Wisconsin Student Census:More Students Utilize School Choice Here Than Ever Before | MacIver Institute)

^ only the top from district go to state-- You have to get a qualifying score to pass from district stage, so how is it misleading?

There are 220,000 high school students, unless competing with kindergarteners adds to the prestige, just saying.

The number just inflates the competition a bit, especially when considering that you’re pretty much listing every single high schooler

“Prior to qualifying for state, the 433 soloists who earned the exemplary honors were among more than 220,000 students who participated in nearly 60,500 events at WSMA District Solo and Ensemble Festivals across the entire state.”

You’re a reach for HYPSM as is everyone; however, I’d say you’re a low reach in this case because your stats (particularly the ACT) are very rare and standout. Other Ivies are reaches as well, but you have shots at them. Apply to all of them!

Your resume doesn’t seem very impressive to me. Of course, it all depends on how its portrayed in your application. HYPSM is much more than a low-reach for you,

Surely you are not being serious. What exactly isn’t impressive about this resume? A 2380in SAT and 36 in ACT? The perfect ACT score alone puts him in a select company of about 0.05% of students who take the ACT. 800 out of 1.66M last year had perfect ACTs as I am sure you know.

Very strong academic credentials along with solid ECs that you seem to be very passionate about certainly puts all these colleges within easy reach in my opinion. Don’t listen to these naysayers. You are a shoo-in for any of these colleges.

I’d say you’re golden for at least one and probably several of those. Good luck!

I’d go with in between ezvcpg and zenith007’s advice. You are neither unimpressive nor a shoo-in - but if you apply to enough of the HYPSM-esque schools, I’d say you’re bound to get into one (which one may depend on your passions/essays/interviews/etc.)

Great stats, you’re sure to get into a few HYPSMs, ivies should be low reaches if not matches at cornell and penn. Good luck with apps!

Chance back?

I’m just wondering how any school can create a class with every student having a better app than this guy.

Really good academics + strong EC’s. Looks like you have a lot of passion in what you do which is great. Not gonna lie though, Violin and Science is probably going to be a pretty common EC for people applying to those schools. That said, you have a solid application at a solid chance at those schools. The thing is, a “solid” chance is still only like 10%…
